Holy Unto the Lord
Scripture
Leviticus 21:8 (NKJV)
Therefore you shall consecrate him, for he offers the bread of your God. He shall be holy to you, for I the Lord, who sanctify you, am holy.
Called to Reflect His Holiness
In this verse, God speaks about the priests who served before Him. They were to live consecrated lives because they represented the people before a holy God. Their service was sacred, and their conduct was to match the holiness of the One they served. The call to holiness was not based on status but on relationship—because God is holy, those who serve Him must also walk in holiness.
For believers today, this principle remains true. We are all called to be priests unto God through Jesus Christ. Our lives, our words, and our actions should reflect His holiness to the world. Holiness is not perfection, but it is a heart devoted to God, set apart to serve Him faithfully.
This verse is a reminder that holiness is not just for the “spiritual leaders” but for all who belong to the Lord.
Reflection Questions
1. Do I live with the awareness that I am called to reflect God’s holiness in everything I do?
2. How can I represent Christ well in my daily life, both in public and in private?
3. What areas of my heart need to be more fully consecrated to God’s service?
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for calling me to be Your servant and to reflect Your holiness. Sanctify my heart and purify my motives. Let my life honor You in all I do so that others may see Your character through me. In Jesus name, Amen.
