Daily scripture: Ephesians 2:8-9
“For it is by God’s grace you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God’s gift, so that no one can boast about it.”
If we are left to our own devices, we would surely be lost. But God, in His kindness and great compassion, saw our human fallibility and sent us His only Son, so that we can be saved. We still have a choice, though; we can either accept the gift or deny it. Accepting the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ means we become children of God, but rejecting the gift will mean eternal damnation.
We have done nothing to deserve God’s love. Our human nature overrules all else if we remain unsaved and, like the Israelites in the desert, we always give in to our own desires. We should be cast out, because of our sins, but Jesus’s blood has the power to take those sins away and make our hearts and souls pure again. If you believe in Him, you will become in new person, one without sin, worthy to enter into the presence of God.
