Good morning, brethren.

Morning devotion for today.

MD.i. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. MONDAY MAY 4, 2026.

"PUT YOUR HEART INTO IT! (1)"

ā€˜I will bless the Lord at all times.’ Psalm 34:1 NKJV

IF YOU shout your lungs out at a ball game on Saturday, but sit silent and subdued when it’s time to worship God on Sunday, maybe you’re more excited about sports than spiritual matters. Ouch! A great definition of worship is ā€˜worth-ship’. What worth do you place on God and on your relationship with Him? You say, ā€˜But sometimes I don’t feel like praising God.’ Feelings have little to do with it! A good relationship isn’t based on emotion but on commitment. The Bible says, ā€˜ā€¦Let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name’ (Hebrews 13:15 NKJV). Note the words ā€˜continually’ and ā€˜sacrifice’. With God, the praise that costs is the praise that counts! Imagine someone with a good job, a good family and good health praising the Lord in church. Now imagine somebody living alone, shut in by sickness, who raises his or her feeble arms and lifts their voice in praise. Which one do you think gets the highest marks? The Psalmist said, ā€˜From the rising of the sun unto its going down, the Lord’s name is to be praised’ (Psalms 113:3 NKJV). This Psalmist scheduled praisebreaks throughout his day: ā€˜Seven times a day I praise Thee’ (Psalms 119:164 NKJV). We have tea and coffee breaks; he had praisebreaks! If you want to change your environment and your attitude, start praising God throughout the day. Not only will you bless the Lord, He will bless you in a hundred and one different ways. Don’t take anybody else’s word for it—try it and see!

MD.ii. JEPHTHAH

"Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Jephthah." - Judges 11:29

The people of Israel cried out to the Lord when they were in need of help again because of their sins. It is written that God could not stand their misery any longer (Judges 10:16).

The Israelites looked for someone who could lead them in the fight and said: 'Whoever will take the lead in attacking the Ammonites…' (Judges 10:18). The man they found was Jephthah. It is unbelievable, but Jephthah was the child of a prostitute and was expelled from the family, so that he would not get an inheritance. He was despised by many, but the Israelites could not find anyone else and said to him: 'Jephthah, would you fight for us?' They promised him they would make him their head if he was willing to go with them. So, Jephthah went. 'Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Jephthah.'

Today we need men and women, boys and girls, who have the courage and the faith to fight the enemy and deliver people from the power of the evil one. Sadly, we lack courageous men and women, who do not compromise with the enemy, but dare to take their stand. Many - including some preachers and pastors - do not fully believe the Bible anymore and try to explain the miracles with their minds.

However, if we no longer believe in the integrity of the Word and if we no longer believe in miracles, then we do not believe in being born again either, because this is also a miracle from God. Subsequently, you do not believe that Jesus was born of a virgin and that He was raised from the dead. If you no longer believe in miracles, then you should throw your Bible away, because it is full of miracles.

Praise God though because today there is a large group of people who believe in the living Word of God and that Jesus is the same today. God still uses a human being, not an organization or board, whom He calls to boldly fight and free people from the burden of the evil one!

2. Morning Prayer for today.

MP.i. Morning Prayer

Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. ā¤ Psalm 119:105

The Scriptures are God’s voice to us in our present hour. ā¤ A.W. Tozer

Our Father, bless Your word to us, which we have read together this morning. We thank You that it brings us the very counsel of Your will. May it stay in our hearts all day. May it be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path as we go forth. May its truth shine within us, showing us Your will, what Your thoughts concerning us are, and what You would have us do. We thank You for this heavenly light You have given us. Without it, we could never find our way home through the tangled paths. Without it, we would not know that You love us or think of us. Help us to receive Your words always with meekness and humility. Help us to walk in the way You have made clear to us.

We ask You to fill us with Your love this morning as we begin the day, so that wherever we go, our faces may shine with something of the light of Your face. We have no light of our own. Our lamps are empty unless You fill them. We ask You to give us Your grace, to fill our little lamps, that they may burn brightly. We do not want to be in darkness in this world—but desire to be lights, and we will shine if we have Your grace in us. Fill us with Your holy light.

We yearn to be blessings today to each other and to everyone we meet. Give us something to carry to others—something of Your love and grace. Lay Your hand upon us and give us each a Father’s blessing, first for ourselves and then to share with our neighbors and friends.

Keep us all from evil. Let us not sin willfully against You this day. Bring us all together in the evening when our work is done, if it be Your will. We ask all these favors in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
