Today’s Reading: Lev.22:1-33 Meditational verse(s) for Today: (Lev.22:3) “Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD.”
Food For Thought: The subject of holiness is one that God is never tired of emphasizing like we can see throughout the book of Leviticus. Whether it is the priest or the people, anyone that would draw near to God must be holy.

This emphasis bears repetition for the simple reason that God is holy and He is not willing to (and does not) compromise that holiness for anyone.
It is like when someone wants to be your friend and is making effort to draw closer to you: if there are things that you are sensitive about and cannot tolerate from those that you call your close friends, wisdom demands that you let them know on time. If they cannot respect your sensibilities concerning such things, then there is no need to seek to be your close friends.

In the same way, God is very protective of His holiness and anyone who desires to draw close to Him must embrace the culture of holiness. Fortunately for us in the New Testament, holiness is not something we should struggle with unlike in the Old Testament.

In the Old Testament, they tried to serve God with their unregenerate nature. It is like trying to chew a piece of meat when you have toothache. It’s tough. But when a person becomes born again, he or she receives a new nature and that nature is the very nature of God which is holy by itself. Consider these scriptures for instance:

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2Co 5:17 “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Eph.4:22-24 All that is required of us to walk in the practicality of holiness is to put it on – just like you wear a dress. This we do by yielding to the help of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us as well as feeding regularly on God’s word.

Today's Practical: Apart from yielding to the help of the Holy Spirit and feeding on God’s word regularly, identify at least two other things we must regularly do in order to put on the new man and walk in the practicality of holiness.
