ANXIETY
By Dr. Hilda Ramirez, from Venezuala she is an evangelical Christian passionate about God.,
What is Anxiety?
“Anxiety,” feelings of excessive worry, recurring negative thoughts, irrational fear, nervousness, irritability, insecurity, and recurring negative thoughts. Your mind can anticipate negative scenarios and constantly repeat negative thoughts about unpleasant situations from the past or present. It is defined as a mood of unease or restlessness, fear and nervousness. This entire mental state can trigger physical symptoms such as tachycardia, chest pain, and difficulty breathing; it can also increase the risk of suffering from certain diseases, including heart attacks or cancer
Lasting relief from anxiety is found in the Person and promises of Jesus Christ. Because He has already carried your sins, your future, and your everyday needs to the cross, you can “cast all your cares on Him” knowing that He lovingly shoulders them for you 1 Peter 5:7.
Promises of John 14:27 Teaches us that Christ is the only source of our peace.
Philippians 4:6-7 asks us not to be anxious for anything.
Peace is not the absence of problems but God’s active guard around your heart and mind when you pray with thanksgiving.
Isaiah 26:3 Those whose Steadfast thoughts are fixed on God are kept in perfect peace.
Matthew 6:25-34 God’s fatherly care for birds and lilies is your daily reminder that worrying about tomorrow is unnecessary and unproductive.
These passages do not deny that real dangers or difficulties exist; they announce that none of them outrank the sovereign care of your Heavenly Father.
How does one turn these promises into practice?
1. Pray 1 Peter 5:7
• Name each worry aloud or in writing.
• Finish by thanking God for specific past faithfulness, remember gratitude starves anxiety.
2. Soak in the Word Psalm 1:2
• Choose one “peace promise”John 14:27; Romans 8:32 memorize and repeat whenever anxious thoughts intrude.
• Read Matthew 6:25-34 each morning this week, asking, “Which of Christ’s reasons not to worry do I need most today?”
3. Renew Your Mind Romans 12:2
• When fearful thoughts of “what-if” surfaces, answer with a “God-is” truth.
Example: “What if I fail?”..... “God is my refuge and strength” Psalm 46:1.
• Keep a written “truth list” to review.
4. Engage the Body of Christ Hebrews 10:24-25
• Share your struggle with a mature believer who will pray with you and remind you of truth.
• Corporate worship realigns perspective an anxious heart shrinks in the presence of a big God.
5. Receive Common-Grace Help.
• Persistent, debilitating anxiety can signal medical or psychological concerns. God’s good gifts include skilled physicians and counselors. Seeking such help is not a lack of faith but stewardship of the body and mind He gave you.
Pray
Father, You know every anxious thought before I speak it. I confess I cannot secure my life, my loved ones, or my future. Because You did not spare Your own Son but gave Him up for me, I trust You to give me what I need. I place ___________ (name the worry) in Your hands. Guard my heart and mind with the peace of Christ . Help me seek your kingdom first.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Hope for Tomorrow
Lamentations 3:22-23. Walk through today with the Prince of Peace, and when the sun rises again, His faithfulness will still be waiting at your doorstep.
Be blessed !
