*TOPIC:*
LOVING GOD.
*THE MESSAGE:*
God showed His love to humans by sending His One and only Son to die for their salvation. Our texts state that our love for God is demonstrated in our obedience to His commands. Just as children are expected to obey their earthly parents, so believers must obey their heavenly Father. Obeying God's commands not only pleases Him but also shows us the way to love others. Obeying Him in all things may not be easy, especially when it comes to loving our enemies. But the power of God's love and the Holy Spirit who lives in us will enable us. The understanding and following God's commands bring great joy and freedom to the believers. Is your love for God and others waning? Just turn to Jesus in faith, and He will grant you the needed grace at every step. Imitate Him who loved you unconditionally.
*REFLECTION:*
God's commands are not burdensome.
*PRAYER:*
Father in heaven, help me to love You more and more each day. Amen.
*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
TITUS 2:12.

Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God, Who raises the dead, Who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us.”
2 Corinthians 1:9-10
Death Sentence
What is the basis of all that God wants to do in the life of the believer? What does God require of us –so that He can produce in us real spiritual fruitfulness? It is the sentence of death in ourselves, “the death sentence..” Paul is here speaking of the unimaginable circumstances that had overwhelmed him. In second Corinthians 2 he was speaking of a wide range of trouble, trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. 2Corinthians 2:8
Paul an Example
Paul was describing a situation in which there was no hope… nothing – Nothing that he nor his companions could do from the human standpoint. He should have died – the ‘sentence of death’ was upon him- he was beyond all hope. Paul- that great apostle to the gentiles – one of the manliest, macho men imaginable.. Paul- who cruelly assented to the macabre mob’s mercilessness murder of Stephen… Paul- who so independently and industriously supported his ministry by making tents.. Paul- who needed a thorn in his flesh to prevent him from becoming prideful. Paul had no hesitation in proclaiming that he despaired even of life. Paul was no lily-livered little, milk-sop of a man – and yet crushing circumstances made him despair even of life.
Trust in God
Why – why go into such detail about this ‘sentence of death’ in ourselves? Well he gives the reason in the next word. A word that is unmistakably pregnant with meaning.. He explains the purpose of the excruciating circumstance that he faced in Asia: So that we should not trust in ourselves but in God. This is the essence; the core; the nucleus. .
Basic Truth
This is the crux of being established in the faith. Here is the sum and substance – the warp and woof – the reality of sanctification: That we should not trust in ourselves, but in God. Search out the scriptures from beginning to end – and you will find this to be so. Seek out the instruction given to the Church – to discover this basic truth. This foundational truth is that we must not trust in ourselves, but in Him.
Reality of Life
Sometimes it takes years for this underpinning gospel truth to be recognised. Often it takes a life-time for this to become a reality in the life of a believer. Some will struggle to defray the difficult circumstances – circumstances that rise like mountains in their lives. But like a man trying to empty the Titanic’s flooding bilges with a teaspoon you will fail.. so that you understand – that we should not trust in ourselves but in God.
Resurrection Life
This sentence of death is the work of God – and the work of God in us, triumphs over this death sentence. Stop trusting in yourself and start really trusting in Him. This is the foghorn that blares forth here In Paul’s life the Lord swept away all self-confidence and all faith in himself.. so that He Who raises the dead to life might show forth His life in him.. so that He might show His great resurrection life – to be fruitful in us. It must be not I that live my life, but Christ that lives in me.. Galatians 2:20
Trust in God
The believer must accept, apply and recognise the sentence of death on them, so that we should not trust in ourselves but in God. For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom He will. Let us submit as did Paul to this sentence of death in our lives that we should not trust in ourselves but in God. 2Corinthians 1:9.
Sufficient Grace
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labours increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercies –
To multiplied trials He multiplies peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance..
when our strength has failed ere the day is half done –
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources –
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
His love has no limit, His grace has no measure.
His power no boundary known unto man;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus.
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.
Jesus said My Grace is sufficient for thee.

2. Evening Prayer for today.
EP.i. Evening Prayer
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ⏤ Philippians 4:6-7
Prayer is the key to the morning and the bolt of the evening. ⏤ Matthew Henry
O God, You have taught us in Your holy word not to be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, to make our requests known to You. So, we come to You this evening with our prayers. There are many things in our lives that could make us anxious if it weren’t for the promises of Your love. Today, there were moments that could have caused us to worry—discouragements, unfulfilled expectations. It would be easy for us to be anxious if we gave in to our feelings.
But we remember our Savior’s teaching against worry—that we should not be anxious because our Heavenly Father knows what we need, and that we should seek first the kingdom of Heaven. We want to obey His counsel. Help us to learn this beautiful lesson. It’s not easy to learn; we are prone to fret, complain, and worry. Help us to overcome this tendency and never to give in to it.
Help us to learn the lesson Paul tells us he learned—to be content in whatever situation we find ourselves. May the love of Jesus in us be so strong that we don’t let the small trials of life get us down. May Your peace in our hearts be so deep, tranquil, and controlling that all our frets and discontents are swallowed up in its blessed fullness. Help us to focus so intently on doing Your will that no hardship, cross-bearing, difficulties, or discouragements can divert our hearts and thoughts from our purpose. We ask for the grace to learn this lesson, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Good morning, brethren.
1. Morning devotion for today.
MD.i. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. WEDNESDAY MAY 6, 2026.
"DON'T EMBARRASS JESUS"
‘The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine.’
John 18:19 NKJV
IF JESUS ‘can be touched with the feelings of our infirmities,’ can He be embarrassed by our actions and attitudes? (Hebrews 4:15.) How embarrassing when Mary and Joseph interrupted Him as a twelve-year-old boy, sitting in the temple confounding its best scholars. They took Him away, saying, ‘We thought we’d lost you. You had us worried to death’ (Luke 2:48). How embarrassing to stand up in your home church and announce that you’re the Messiah, then have people you grew up with march you out of town and try to throw you off a cliff (Luke 4:29 KJV). How embarrassing when He told Jairus that his dead daughter was merely sleeping and those in the house ‘laughed him to scorn’ (Matthew 9:24 KJV). Now think about this. When the high priest asked Jesus about His doctrine, He replied, ‘Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me…’ (John 18:21 NKJV). Whereupon one of the officers standing next to Jesus slapped Him in the face. How embarrassing! But the supreme embarrassment in the life of Jesus may well have been when the high priest asked Him not about His doctrine, but about His disciples. Where were they? Judas betrayed Him, Peter denied Him, and the rest ran for cover. What could He say? So here’s the question: Are your character, your conduct and your commitment to Christ a source of joy to Him, or an embarrassment? Gandhi said, ‘If Christians would really live according to the teachings of Christ, all of India would be Christian today.’ When it comes to doctrine, you may stand tall. But when it comes to discipleship, where do you stand?

MD.ii. THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS US PRAY
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God." - Romans 8:26-27
Sometimes it happens that a child of God becomes so discouraged that he wants to give up praying. 'Praying doesn't help. God doesn't hear me. How can I move on?'
Above Bible scripture is very important for such people. The Holy Spirit does two main things when we pray.
1) The Holy Spirit teaches us to pray
The Spirit of God puts the right prayer in our hearts. Praying is then a work of the Holy Spirit and not ours. God Himself, through His Spirit, puts true prayer in our hearts and we then place this prayer before the mercy seat of God. A prayer, placed by God in our hearts, will always be answered.
2) The Holy Spirit does not only teach us to pray, but also helps us with this
God's Spirit is an Intercessor. The Holy Spirit prays in us and for us. In addition to the blood of His Son Jesus Christ that cleanses us from all sins, God has also given us the Holy Spirit as the Comforter. The Holy Spirit does not only comfort us, but He also leads, strengthens, teaches and speaks.
The Holy Spirit does not replace our prayer but supports it. We must allow Him to pray through us. God does not exempt us from the task of praying but wishes to help us through His Spirit. You have to seek first, then you will find. You should first knock, and the door will be opened. You must first pray, and you will receive.

MP.i. Morning Prayer
To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. God [is] our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. ⏤ Psalm 46:1
God does nothing but by prayer, and everything with it. ⏤ John Wesley
Gracious Father, we come to You at the start of this new day, seeking Your blessing. We thank You for the rest we’ve had through the night. We laid down, slept, and woke up again because You sustained us. We will not fear any opposition because You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble.
Now, our Father, send us out into the new day on new missions. We want to take our directions from You. Help us to keep Your commandments. Cleanse us from hidden faults and sins; keep us from falling into willful sin. You are able to keep us from falling—we commit our souls to Your holy care. Deliver us from the Evil One. We have no power to stand against his cunning attacks, so we trust our souls to You, our faithful Creator and Friend. Save us from the Tempter.
We ask that You make us strong for our duties today. We have many things to do that will require wisdom and perseverance. Give us the strength that comes from victory in struggle. Equip us to do good at home—showing love and care for one another. May our home be filled with Your rich blessings. Let nothing disrupt our love for each other or harm our fellowship. Help us to grow in love that is sincere, patient, thoughtful, and kind. May we continue to learn the lessons of love better and better.
May the light from our home shine out, showing others how to live more sweetly. May Your grace be upon us in proportion to our need, filling our hearts and lives, and preparing us for every experience we may face today. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labours increase;
His power no boundary known unto man;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus.

How can I move on?' Above Bible scripture is very important for such people.

2. Morning Prayer for today.
Amen.
