Good morning, brethren.

THE WORD FOR TODAY. FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2026.
"GOSSIP--DON'T INDULGE IN IT."
'Keep your tongue from evilā¦ā Psalms 34:13 NIV
DID YOU hear about the three women who decided to confess their weaknesses to each other? The first confessed to drinking too much. The second confessed to being jealous of a friendās good looks. The third said nothing, so the other two pressed her and asked, āOkay, whatās your weakness?ā Finally she answered, āItās gossip, and I canāt wait to get out of here and talk about you two!ā Now letās get serious. The Bible has strong words when it comes to the subject of gossip: āHe who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruinā (Proverbs 13:3 NIV). āIf anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthlessā (James 1:26 NIV). āWhoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evilā (1 Peter 3:10 NIV). Gossip is like mud thrown against a wallāit may not stick, but it leaves a dirty mark. And that mark can last a lifetime! So before you take aim, check your target. Ask yourself how much damage youāll inflict and how youāll feel about it afterwards. Solomon said, āThe tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruitā (Proverbs 18:21 NIV). Did you get that? You will āeat your wordsā. Youāll reap the harvest you sow, good or bad. Bottom line: if youāre looking for faults, look in the mirror. When you work on your own shortcomings, youāll have no time left to gossip about anybody elseās.

MD.ii. A PROMISE MADE IS A PROMISE KEPT
"Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High." - Psalm 50:14
Today the Lord God takes some of you back in time, maybe one or five years, or sometimes even ten, twenty or thirty years back. When people are in trouble or under pressure, many make a promise to God. They make a covenant or agreement with God and make a vow to Him. But the Lord says that many have not kept their promises.
Old promises
I know this speaks to the hearts. God is taking you back in time. There are those who stood at the bed of a loved one and made a promise to God. There are also people who used to have a lot of debts and promised something to God, however this is still unfulfilled. Others promised God a tenth of their income, but they have not been giving this yet. You may have promised to read your Bible more, spend more time praying or attending church more often.
God wants to remind you today of what you promised Him earlier. God has fulfilled all His promises. However, you have forgotten your promises.
God does not only remind you of your promises, but gives you grace time to fulfill these promises.
Maybe you wonder: 'Lord, where were you when I was struggling? Why did you leave me alone?' It could be that God wants you to keep your promise first. 'Fulfill your vows to the Most High' (Psalm 50:14). God also says: 'Call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you' (Psalm 50:15).
Dear reader, if you made a promise to God, you did not promise it to a mortal man, but to God, the Creator of heaven and earth, who will not forget a promise! Keep your promises to the Most High. Then when you call on Him, the Lord will answer: 'Behold, here I am.'

MP.i. Morning Prayer
Show me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou Art Dialog the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. ⤠Psalm 25:4-5
The man who mobilizes the Christian church to pray will make the greatest contribution to world evangelization in history. ⤠Andrew Murray
O most merciful Father, who loves all Your redeemed children ā we confess our many sins and shortcomings and ask You to show us Your mercy and favor. We are not worthy to be called Your children. We have strayed from Your commandments, choosing our own paths. Weāve known Your ways but have not always walked in them. We humbly confess all our wrongdoings and implore Your forgiveness.
We long to experience more deeply the love You have for us. Help us to truly believe in this love and to understand its greatness. We are like little children, unaware of the divine love that watches over us. If we truly knew this love, we would never doubt or be afraid. We desire to feel this love that never fails and never forgets.
Help us to be aware of Your divine care and affection throughout this day. With this awareness, nothing shall disturb us, dampen our enthusiasm, or break our peace. Cares wonāt vex us, temptations wonāt overpower us, and dangers wonāt alarm us. Our faces will shine with the grace that lives within us.
We ask for Your help in all our duties today, that we may do our work faithfullyāwithout carelessness or negligence, but with diligence in all things. We pray for our friends, that they may be kept close to You in the shelter of Your love. May Your blessing be upon the sick, those near death who need to be ready when You call them, and all who are troubled, poor, grieving, or lost in sin. We ask all these things in Jesusā precious name. Amen.
