And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. Judges 7:2
Gideon had 32000 armed men with him for war, but not all of them were heartily ready for the battle and some were fearful. So through divine screening 31700 armed men were taken out, and Gideon was left with 300 men for the battle. With them God gave them unmatched victory.
Lessons:
1. Having many people does not guarantee victory.
2. You don't need everybody to succeed. You need the right people.
3. It is better to work with the few and be successful than walk with a crowd and be a failure.
4. God's ways to success are always right and different from that of man.
5. Human wisdom is always not sufficient to handle the battles of life.
6. Many that are with us are not ordained to go to battle with us. If we allow them, they will turn against us. Let God guide you.
Having the crowd is good but fight with the few.
