Daily scripture: Jeremiah 9:24-25
"The LORD says, “The wise should not boast of their wisdom, nor the strong of their strength, nor the rich of their wealth. If anyone wants to boast, he should boast that he knows and understands me, because my love is constant, and I do what is just and right. These are the things that please me. I, the LORD , have spoken.”
Another translation says:
“… I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD.”
It is clear that God is not the one causing all the trouble in our lives. Remember Job? It was not God that ruined him, it was Satan! Oh, don’t misunderstand me, God is totally capable of destroying you. In the Old Testament He is known as a God of wrath…but also of mercy. Look what happened to Israel’s enemies! The children of Israel themselves sinned over and over again and were struck down with God’s anger. But He ALWAYS forgave them and lifted them up again.
God doesn’t want us to suffer and therefore He sent His Son to die for our sins. We have been given a beautiful gift by a compassionate God. Forgiveness and eternal life is our inheritance.
If you are consumed by your troubles and cares, do not blame God. Do not ask where He is in the picture either, for He IS ALWAYS THERE, in the background, watching and waiting for you to reach out to Him.
We often forget that even Satan serves God and the pain he brings to you therefore serves God’s purpose too. You may feel that your Creator has abandoned you, even Jesus thought so on the cross, but He hasn’t. While you are consumed by sorrow and worries, He looks to the future, to the plan He has for you and knows that your current trials will teach endurance, it will strengthen you and shape you like clay to become the person He wants you to be.All you have to do is to trust in Him, in His vision for you, even if you don’t understand it.
Remember the invitation:
“Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest."
