Proverbs 13:1 A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
Instruction is the act of teaching, training, or providing detailed directions, orders, or commands to guide someone in performing a task.
A rebuke is a sharp, stern expression of disapproval or a reprimand. Used to scold or to criticize.
I so much more appreciate those phone calls from my boss that give me wisdom, understanding and knowledge than the call that's letting me know I made a mistake. I should have asked for help, I could have just said, “ I don't know how”.
My boss is worse than either of my parents were, cause they birthed me, I was created by them. They loved me. With my boss. “It's just business”.
I learned the hard way that it's okay to ask for help, we don't have to do life on our own. Arrogance, pride, embarrassment or shame can all lead to not admitting you need help. I am at the age where I don't want to hear reprimands, fussing or arguing or even an “I told you so “ speech.
It is so much better to take instruction than it is to take a rebuke.
I have learned that staying in the Word, striving to be like Jesus will lead to better days in comparison to doing it my way. If I try to do things on my own, I can really make a mess, but if I look to the Word of God, ask others who have gone before me for advice or instruction, life is so much easier and more fulfilling.
A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
I hope to be counted as wise.
2 Timothy 3:17,17: All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Amen.
