Necessity of prayer-3
Curriculum-3
"Ask, and it will be given to you."
Matthew 7:7
The Lord Jesus commanded His children to ask. He said, Ask, and it shall be given you. Even though this is the Lord’s promise, we can only ask according to the measure of our faith. When God said to Solomon, Ask, what shall I give you? Then Solomon said, Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may judge thy people Israel. 2 Chronicles 1:1-12.
The Lord Jesus told us to pray because it will reveal what kind of person we are. Where the treasure is, there will be his heart. If we are spiritual believers, we will pray for spiritual things; but if we are worldly believers, we will pray for worldly things. As the Lord Jesus was passing by one day, a blind man cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” Then Jesus called him and said, “What do you want me to do for you?” He could easily have asked for money or clothes. For he lived by begging. But he said, “Teacher, that I may receive my sight.” Then the Lord Jesus said, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight. Mark 10:46-52.
When we pray to the Lord, what are we praying for? Do we pray for something for our own benefit, or do we pray for something for the glory of the Lord? Our true nature is revealed through our prayers. Therefore, we should be careful when praying.
"Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, and the ends of the earth your possession." Psalm 2:8.
