Good morning, brethren.
1. Morning devotion for today.

MD.i. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. THURSDAY MAY 14, 2026.
"PRAYING JESUS' WAY (5)"

'...He will show you a way out…’  1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT

ā€˜AS WE forgive our debtors’ (Matthew 6:12 NKJV). Forgiving others isn’t an option, it’s an obligation. Being forgiven depends on forgiving others. Young Robert Louis Stevenson’s family customarily prayed the Lord’s Prayer before dinner. One evening he left the table before they reached the part, ā€˜As we forgive our debtors.’ Asked why, he replied, ā€˜I’m not prepared to pray that prayer today’. Recognising his reluctance to forgive, he knew he couldn’t receive God’s forgiveness.Ā  ā€˜If you forgive men…your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not…your Father will not forgive your sins’ (vv. 14-15 NIV). No matter how badly you’ve been wronged, God requires you to forgive. Ā ā€˜ā€¦Lead us not into temptation’ (v. 13 NIV). This seems odd in the light of God’s Word: ā€™ā€˜When tempted, no one should ever say,Ā  ā€œGod is tempting me.ā€ For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone’ (James 1:13 NIV). William Barclay says the Greek word used here for temptation means ā€˜testing’, as in the ordeals and trials of life. It refers to life’s stressful experiences. An athlete might use these words with his trainer, ā€˜Please don’t push me beyond my endurance!’ It calls for acknowledging three realities: 1) your human limits and vulnerabilities. 2) that God’s in charge of your testing. 3) that He wants you to ask for help and not try to handle it alone. ā€˜ā€¦God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand…He will show you a way out so that you can endure’ (1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT). He won’t just intervene on your behalf; He will use the experience to strengthen you spiritually.

MD.ii. INJURED PEOPLE COMING HOME

"Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race." - Psalm 12:1

In this Psalm, David looks around him and sees many people falling away from God. People who were holy and faithful are backsliding around him.

Although God will always have faithful and righteous believers, David had to cry out in sorrow! Today we live in a similar time. Jesus already predicted that many would fall away from their faith in the last days. My heart is sad when I see fine Christians turn back on their faith.

Feeling of guilt

One of the reasons people backslide is that they do not really understand the great and loving grace of God! Many have feeling of guilt and condemnation. When the evil one approaches you with his seduction tactics and before you even notice it, you are in the middle of his seduction... then the feelings of guilt will come. You are scared and say: 'O no, Lord.' You feel powerless. This is when so many Christians run away from God's loving and forgiving grace. They do not understand the meaning of God's grace and the evil one tells them: 'You will not make it! You fell back again. You have already asked for forgiveness so many times. It has to stop once you know!'

An ocean of mercy

These are real lies, because God has an ocean of mercy, love, patience and grace! Instead of rushing to God, many people run away from Him. James 5:11 says that 'the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.' And Nehemiah 9:17 says: 'But You are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.'

God wants to take care of us, forgive us and help us. When we are wrong, we should not give up. He asks us to acknowledge our sins! Instead of running away, you should walk towards the Lord and acknowledge your sins. He forgives you. When we hate sin and love His goodness, God will fill us with His joy. God is able to and wants to forgive you!

2. Morning Prayer for today.

MP.ii. Morning Prayer

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. ā¤ Galatians 5:13

Let your religion be less of a theory and more of a love affair. ā¤ G.K. Chesterton

O God, who has redeemed us by the precious blood of the Lamb, help us to live for Your praise and glory in all that we do. Since Jesus Christ has died for us and we are not our own, we want to live lives worthy of Your holiness. We confess and renounce all our sins. Teach us to hate sin and give us the grace to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world, to the glory of Your holy name.

We ask You to reveal Yourself to us this morning as we go forth and to give us the assurance of Your presence. You have promised that as our days are, so shall our strength be, and that Your grace will always be sufficient for us. We cling to these promises as we enter a new day whose experiences we cannot predict. We do not know what dangers we will encounter, what burdens will be placed on us, what temptations will whisper in our ears, what pitfalls will lie in our path, or what insidious influences will threaten the purity of our souls.

So we hide ourselves in You and trust You to keep us safe all day.

We desire to be useful and helpful to others. Save us from selfishness and self-centeredness. Teach us the great lesson of service. May we have the mind of Christ, who came not to be served but to serve. May we serve one another in love. May we live to help others and do good.

Help us to see the needs we can meet, to perceive the ways we can serve, and then give us the true spirit of ministry so that we may do the things that will bless others. Fill us with Your Spirit so that we may be like You. We ask all this in the name of our Savior. Amen.
