Matthew 28:6 is one of the most powerful verses in all of scripture because it contains a phrase that quietly reveals the absolute faithfulness of Jesus Christ.

“He is not here, for he has risen, just as he said.” (Matthew 28:6)

Just as He said.

That phrase melts my heart every time I read it because it reminds me that Jesus always fulfills His word completely. Before the cross, Jesus told His disciples repeatedly that He would be betrayed, crucified, and rise again on the third day. (Matthew 16:21) And when the women arrived at the tomb, heaven itself announced the resurrection with this simple but powerful reminder:

Just as He said.

Jesus did exactly what He promised.

I think many people struggle trusting God because life has disappointed them so deeply. People break promises. Relationships fail. Circumstances shift unexpectedly. But the resurrection stands as eternal proof that Jesus Christ is completely trustworthy. The empty tomb is heaven declaring that every promise connected to Jesus can be trusted fully.

And honestly, I love that the angel did not simply say, “He has risen.” The angel intentionally added, “just as he said.” It is as if heaven was reminding humanity that Jesus had already spoken victory before the battle even unfolded.

That changes the way I view every promise in scripture.

When Jesus says He will never leave you nor forsake you, He means it. (Hebrews 13:5)

When Jesus says no one can snatch you out of His hand, He means it. (John 10:28)

When Jesus says your sins are forgiven through His blood, He means it. (Ephesians 1:7)

When Jesus says whoever believes in Him has eternal life, He means it. (John 3:16)

The resurrection proves Jesus does not speak empty words.

He fulfills what He promises.

I think this verse also reveals something beautiful about the finished work of Christ. The resurrection was not an emotional recovery after tragedy. It was victory accomplished exactly according to God’s plan from the very beginning. Sin was defeated just as He said. Death was conquered just as He said. Separation was removed just as He said.

Everything Jesus accomplished happened exactly as heaven promised.

And honestly, I think some of you need to remember that today.

Maybe life feels uncertain right now.
Maybe prayers feel delayed.
Maybe circumstances look confusing.

But the empty tomb still declares the same truth:
Jesus is faithful to His word.

The disciples once stood devastated believing everything was over. Fear filled their hearts. Hope seemed buried inside that tomb. Yet while humanity thought the story had ended, heaven was already preparing resurrection.

Just as He said.

That means your current situation is not greater than the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. The same Savior who walked out of the grave still holds your life in His hands today. His promises are not fragile. His grace is not temporary. His finished work is not incomplete.

And I think one of the most beautiful parts of the resurrection story is that Jesus did not rise merely to prove His power. He rose so humanity could live fully reconciled to the Father forever. (Romans 4:25)

The empty tomb is not merely proof that Jesus lives.

It is proof that the cross worked.

Proof that sin was fully paid for.
Proof that grace is greater.
Proof that death lost its authority.
Proof that believers now stand righteous before God through Christ.

Just as He said.

Those four words remind me constantly that Jesus can be trusted completely. Not partially. Completely.

And if He fulfilled the greatest promise of all through His resurrection, then you can trust Him with every other promise connected to your life as well.
