Necessity of prayer-9

Syllabus-9

"Work for the food which endures to eternal life." John 6:27

Most of the work that people do is for their own food, clothing, and comfort. Although these are necessary, they are not of much value. The Lord Jesus compared them to perishable food. He said, “Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life.” John 6:27. We will enjoy the fruits of all these labors as long as we live in this world. But after death they will be of no use to us.

Death is not everything to man. The life after death is eternal. So the time of that life is much longer than this life. Here we can live for a thousand years, but there we will have to live forever. So if we spend all the time we have to work for this world, what will we have for the next world? The Lord Jesus told a parable: The land of a rich man yielded abundant harvests, and he said to himself, What shall I do? I have no room to store my grain. I will break down my barns and build larger ones. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have food laid up for many years. Eat, drink, be merry. But God said to him, You fool, this night your soul will be required of you. Then whose will these things be, that you have provided? "So is he who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God." Luke 12:16-21.

That is why, even though we have a lot of work to do, it is absolutely necessary for us to make time for prayer.

"For a man's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses." Luke 12:15.
