Dear Father,

I planned to break a fast at 2pm, but by 1:30 pm I already felt weak, as though I could not go any further. Strangely, when I extended the fast until 6pm, the struggle did not begin until around 5pm. What I once thought was my elastic limit at 1:30pm turned out not to be my limit at all; extending the time revealed that I could endure far more than I thought.

In setting goals, we sometimes subconsciously define the limits of what we believe we can endure. I see how this applies in every area of our lives. I pondered on the scripture where Isaac blessed Esau, he said, “You will live by the sword and you will serve your brother. But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck.” How useful, then, is restlessness toward achievement?

The boundaries we create around supposedly impossible feats are often reflections of the mind’s limitations rather than reality itself. And sometimes we are brought into situations that awaken restlessness within us, yet the mind still decides whether that restlessness will be silenced or transformed into change.

All around the world, people and nations are confronted with seasons of unrest--left to decide between remaining comfortable in fear or embracing the change that restlessness provokes.
