Good evening, brethren.
1. Evening devotion for today.

ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

*DATE:*
MONDAY 25TH MAY, 2026.

*SUB-THEME:*
RESPONSE TO GRACE.

*TOPIC:*
LETTING GO OF OFFENSE.

*TEXT:*
MATTHEW 5:38-39.
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’
Exo 21:24 Lev 24:20 Deu 19:21
39 But I tell you not to resist an evildoer. On the contrary, whoever slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well.
Pro 24:29 Luk 6:29 Rom 12:17 1Co 6:7 1Th 5:15 1Pe 3:9 [Lev 19:18] [Rom 12:19]

*TOPIC:*
LETTING GO OF OFFENSE.

*THE MESSAGE:*
The Old Testament law permitted the authorities to punish offenders and prevent lawlessness (Ex. 21:23-25). In this text, Jesus prohibits humans from taking revenge. He encourages that offenders should be given a second chance. As beneficiaries of free salvation through grace, we ought to show grace by forgiving those who wrong us. Instead of retaliation, believers should show love and forgiveness. Turning the other cheek appears weak and illogical, yet it is possible to repay wickedness with love. God desires that Christians show mercy and do good to those who do evil.
What do you think about wicked people who often plan and attack the innocent?
Do you see letting go of offenses as a weakness?
Forgiving them is giving room for God to avenge, and He will do it perfectly!

*REFLECTION:*
It is wise to overlook offenses (Prov. 19:11).

*PRAYER:*
Lord, give me the strength to seek redress appropriately. Amen.

*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
TITUS 2:12.
It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age.

*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
JOB 24-25.

The Christian Ticket

There are numerous establishments and foundations that are labeled ‘Christian’: -Christian civilization; Christian denomination; Christian charity; Christian aid. There are a multitude of areas that are associated with the Christian ticket: -Philanthropy; hospitality; reform; education; religion and relief to name but a few. There are plenty of things that are being constructed in the name of the Lord, and all such by-products of Christian ‘enlightenment’ are of great benefit to the world.

Confused Christianity

But the work and wisdom of God does not come through the best efforts of man. The ‘new creation’ in Christ is independent of man’s humanitarianism – but too often man’s perception of the Church is confused with true Christianity. And too often man’s perception of Christianity is confused with the true Church,

Living Organism

The Church is not built by man nor is it confined in fine buildings. Christ said:- I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” Matthew 16:18. The Church is not a worthy organization of fine fellows and charitable ladies. The Church is part of Christ Himself, an extension of our Lord – His body. The Church is not an organisation but rather it is a living organism… Behold I show you a mystery… we are all members of His flesh and bones” Ephesians 5:30 – and Christ is the Head of the church.

One Foundation

If a ministry is dependent on the name of its leader it is doomed to fail. If Christ is replaced by a man, woman or denomination, a death knoll has sounded, for other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ” 1Corinthians 3:11

God Incarnate

Christ is not a theology, nor a doctrine – Christ is not a mere historical fact – He is the Lord of eternity; the Creator of the universe – He is God made Man. He is revealed within His cross; death; resurrection; ascension: glorification: We need to realise that there is a Man in heaven sitting on the throne of God- – and that man is Christ Jesus the Lord, the head of the Church.

Christ Outside

He is the foundation and the capstone of all that is called Christianity.. yet the majority of Christendom has relegated Him to a place outside the door. Jesus was crucified outside the city wall, spurned and rejected by those He came to save, Jesus remains spurned, rejected, ignored, knocking– outside the door of the ‘church’

Centrality of Christ

It is folly to spend time and energy building up a Christian work unless Christ is central, but many Christian works are founded on ‘Christian’ principles alone and not Christ – and any ministry that neglects His rightful place, is doomed to collapse. Jesus said I, if I am lifted up will draw all men unto Myself” John 12:32

Wise Warning

There are numerous establishments and foundations that are labeled ‘Christian’, but we must beware when Christ is not central to a church or ministry. There can be worldliness within the ‘church’ and a spiritual immaturity – there can be lack of scriptural knowledge or a tickling of ears with pleasantries.

Remain Alert

There are plenty of things that are being constructed in the name of the Lord – We must beware when a denomination is simply following the traditions of men. We must be careful of a body that is a fawning over a man-made ministry. We must be alert to the false doctrines and deceiving spirits many proclaim today.

Foundation and Capstone

We need to realise that there is a Man in heaven sitting on the throne of God, and that man is the Man Christ Jesus our Lord – the Head of the Church – and He alone is the foundation and capstone of all that is called Christianity. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

2. Evening Prayer for today.

EP.i. Evening Prayer

The LORD [is] thy keeper: the LORD [is] thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. ⏤ Psalm 121:5-6

The prayer that prevails is not the work of lips and fingertips, but the cry of a broken heart and the travail of a stricken soul. ⏤ Samuel Chadwick

O Almighty and Most Merciful Lord, we beseech You to fulfill Your gracious promise to be present with Your people always.

As the pillar of fire gave light to Your people in ancient days, may this night be filled with Your light for us. May its brightness surround us. As the stars fill the sky, may Your promises pour their beams of divine light and love upon us. May we rest under Your protection as sweetly as a little child sleeps in the arms of a loving mother.

Look down upon our neighborhood and see every home. Some are darkened by affliction. In sick rooms, the lamp will burn all night as loving caregivers sit in silence, tending to their dear ones. Be in those homes and sit with the watchers, whispering words of cheer and hope.

Other homes have an empty chair at the table and in the family circle. Send Your comfort. Make the truth of immortality so real that death doesn’t seem like death at all, and the departed don’t feel gone but near in Jesus.

Still, other homes are filled with anxious mothers and fathers, hearts breaking over children who have gone astray. Hear the sobbing prayers that rise from these saddest of all homes. Find the wandering ones and save them. Then there are homes that are very happy, filled with love, blessings, and mercies, with unbroken circles. Give these homes Your joy and peace, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
