Created in Righteousness and True Holiness
The fourth truth about man before the fall is that he was created in righteousness and true holiness.
This is what the Apostle Paul teaches us in his letter to the Ephesians.
"And that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness."—Ephesians 4:24
When Paul describes the new man that believers become in Christ, he tells us that this new man is created according to God in true righteousness and holiness.
But this is not merely a new creation. It is a re-creation. It is a restoration of what was lost.
The original man, Adam, was created in true righteousness and true holiness. He was not morally neutral. He was not born as a blank slate.
He was created righteous, created holy, created with a nature that was perfectly aligned with the nature of God.
This means that before the fall, man had no inclination toward evil. He had no sin nature. He had no pull toward disobedience. His desires were pure. His thoughts were clean. His heart was upright. He could choose to obey God perfectly because his nature was not at war with God's commands.
