Good evening, brethren.
Good evening devotion for today.

ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

*DATE:*
TUESDAY 26TH MAY, 2026.

*SUB-THEME:*
RESPONSE TO GRACE.

*TOPIC:*
CONTENTMENT.

*TEXT:*
1 TIMOTHY 6:6-10.
6. But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.
8. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
9. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
10. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

*TOPIC:*
CONTENTMENT.

*THE MESSAGE:*
Paul, in our reading, calls upon the Christians to be content with what they have and prioritise eternal things. He reminds the believers that God is good and will always supply all the needs of His children. He urges Christians to avoid the sin of greed and materialism because they cannot answer the deep needs of the soul. Contentment is more than focusing on what we have, but on the fact that all we have is given to us by the grace of God. Both material and spiritual blessings are by His grace. We get discontented when we feel we are not getting what we deserve or not as much as someone else. People with such an attitude easily wander from the faith, living in grief and regret. Some fall into the temptation of looting, prostitution, kidnapping, and so on. Be warned, the end is destructive.

*REFLECTION:*
Godliness with contentment is great gain.

*PRAYER:*
Lord, teach me to be content in Your grace. Amen.

*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
TITUS 2:12.
It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age.

*TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
JOB 26-27.

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

Let not your heart be troubled

Abide in My Love
John 15:10

Comforting Words

As the Lord prepared to leave the disciples He loved – He comforted them.. He told them not to be troubled, for He knew He was to leave them. He told them He was going to the Father and would come back again. He told them that though they would see Him no more, He would be with them. He told them He was preparing a home for them and would return to them. He told them that despite the trouble they faced He would be with them, always. He told them the Holy Comforter of God would come to them, to indwell them.

One Way

He knew that in this world they would have tribulations and disappointments. He knew the difficulties, the sadness, the pain, the trials they all had to face. He knew there was one way and one way alone that they could overcome, – Abide in Me – Remain in Me – Keep your heart fixed unrelentingly on Me.

Heart Decision

Abiding in Him is even deeper than rest – it is a decision of the heart. It is a consciousness of resting in Him and of Him living through us. It is enjoining with Him – at the very sphere, center and circumference of life.

Abiding in Him

Jesus knew that in sadness He would be their abiding joy. In disappointments He would be their abiding hope. In dark times He would be their abiding light. In suffering He would be their abiding grace. In sickness He would be their abiding health. In poverty He would be their abiding treasure. In death He would be their abiding life. Jesus knows nothing can disturb us when we are abiding in Him.

Christian’s Hope

And down through the past twenty centuries –His words have comforted many. Down through the church age, abiding in Him has been the Christians’ hope. .Rest in Me. Abide in Me. Sit under the shadow of My Love and be still,

Abiding Words

In the mid 18 hundreds there was a dearly loved minister who learned this truth, His name was Lyte and he was dying of tuberculosis – But Lyte was inspired to write the words of a hymn.. The words that he wrote have brought great comfort to many thousands :

Abide With Me

The hymn was finished the very Sunday he gave his farewell sermon. He spoke to the friends and flock that he loved and taught for many years, The next day he left for Italy, hoping to regain his failing health. Lyte did not complete the journey – he died three weeks later.

Timely Acquaintance

It was in Nice, in France, where his life journey was ended – but some of the final words to his little flock in his home-town were these:- O brethren, I stand here among you today, as alive from the dead, if I may hope to impress it upon you, and induce you to prepare for that solemn hour which must come to all, by a timely acquaintance with the death of Christ.

Abiding Truth

Soon and very soon we will all stand before the Lord, but every day that passes is a day of grace, when we can draw closer to Him. Each passing day is an opportunity to lean on Him, rest in Him, abide in Him.

In disappointments – He is our abiding hope
In dark times – He is our abiding light
In suffering – He is our abiding grace
In sickness – He is our abiding health
In poverty – He is our abiding treasure
In death – He is our abiding life
We know that nothing can disturb us when we are abiding in Him.

Abiding With Me

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word;
But as Thou dwell’st with Thy disciples, Lord,
Familiar, condescending, patient, free.
Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.

Come not in terrors, as the King of kings,
But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings,
Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea—
Come, Friend of sinners, and thus bide with me.

Thou on my head in early youth didst smile;
And, though rebellious and perverse meanwhile,
Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee,
On to the close, O Lord, abide with me.

I need Thy presence every passing hour.
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

2. Everything prayer for today.

EP.i. Evening Prayer

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. ⏤ Proverbs 3:5-6

The man who prays grows; and the muscles of the soul swell from this whipcord to iron bands. ⏤ Leonard Ravenhill

O God, the Author of our being and the Preserver of our lives—we come to Your throne of grace this evening, placing ourselves under Your care for the night. Bless us and grant us Your special peace. Cleanse our hearts before You, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from us. Shine the light of Your countenance upon us, and grant us Your salvation.

The evening is here; come, O Jesus, and abide with us. Keep us securely in Your care. Strengthen our faith so that it will not fail. May we always keep our eyes on You, setting You before us, so that we do not lose our way. We are too prone to trust our own desires and to choose our own ways. Help us to always do what pleases You so that we do not sin against You. Keep us from discouragement and despair. May we learn to leave all the affairs of our lives in Your hands, trusting You to bring about what is best for us and for Your glory. Teach us how to commit our way to You so that You may bring forth our righteousness.

We bring before You each member of our home. You know each one of us and all our needs. You know the temptations each of us faces—they are not the same, though we live under the same roof. Match Your grace to our specific dangers and needs. Reveal Yourself to us always as the Friend we need, offering the help we need.

Sanctify all the experiences of the day for us. May our disappointments prove to be Your appointments, and may the way You have led us be indeed the right way. In Your great mercy, forgive all our sins, and bring us into Your heavenly kingdom through Jesus Christ. Amen.
