Let me summarize what we have seen. Before the fall, man was created in the image and likeness of God, crowned with glory and honor.
He was a tripartite being, spirit, soul, and body, perfectly integrated and fully alive to God.
He was created for intimate relationship with his Creator and for righteous dominion over the earth.
He was made in true righteousness and true holiness, with no sin nature, no pull toward evil, no inner conflict.
And he was given a free will, the capacity to choose obedience or disobedience, love or rebellion, life or death.
This is the original man. This is what God called "very good." This is the height from which humanity fell.
But the story does not end there. For God, in His infinite wisdom and love, had already prepared a plan of restoration before the foundation of the world.
And to understand that plan, we must now turn to the tragic event that made it necessary: the fall of man.
