TODAY'S MESSAGE
DON'T LET FEAR KEEP YOU FROM YOUR PURPOSE
Fear has buried more dreams than failure ever did.
Many people are not defeated because they lack talent, intelligence, or opportunity. They are defeated because fear convinced them to stay hidden. Fear tells you:
“You are not good enough.”
“What if you fail?”
“What will people say?”
“You have tried before.”
“Your background disqualifies you.”
But hear this clearly: God never created you to live imprisoned by fear. Every great man and woman in Scripture had to confront fear before stepping into destiny.
Your purpose is too important to be abandoned at the altar of fear.
Key Bible Verses
1. 2 Timothy 1:7
> “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Fear is not from God. Paul called it a spirit because fear can dominate, paralyze, and silence a person. God gives power to move forward, love to remain stable, and a sound mind to think correctly.
2. Joshua 1:9
> “Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid... for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Joshua was afraid after Moses died. Yet God repeatedly commanded him to be courageous. Why? Because purpose always demands courage.
3. Jeremiah 1:6–8
Jeremiah felt too young and unqualified, but God told him:
> “Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee.”
Many people delay purpose because they focus on their inadequacies instead of God’s ability.
4. Matthew 14:29–30
Peter walked on water until fear entered his heart. The moment he focused on the storm, he began to sink.
Fear shifts your eyes from Christ to the storm.
1. Fear Will Always Fight Purpose
Every divine assignment attracts opposition.
Moses feared speaking.
Gideon feared rejection.
Esther feared approaching the king.
Jonah feared obedience.
Peter feared failure.
Fear often appears when you are closest to destiny.
The enemy knows that if you rise, lives will change. So he attacks your confidence before he attacks your future.
Deep Spiritual Insight
Fear is one of Satan’s greatest weapons because it keeps people inactive. A fearful believer may have anointing, gifting, and vision, yet accomplish nothing.
The devil does not need to destroy you if he can discourage you.
2. Fear Magnifies Problems and Minimizes God
In Numbers 13, the spies saw giants in Canaan and became terrified. They said:
> “We were in our own sight as grasshoppers.”
Fear distorted their perception.
Joshua and Caleb saw the same giants but remembered the greatness of God.
Fear will make your challenges look bigger than your calling.
Real-Life Reflection
Many people never start:
the ministry God placed in their hearts,
the business idea,
the evangelism assignment,
the book,
the outreach, because fear whispers, “You will fail.”
But failure is not the worst tragedy. Never trying is worse.
3. Purpose Requires Stepping Out in Faith
Peter only experienced the miracle after stepping out of the boat.
Faith is not the absence of fear. Faith is moving despite fear.
Courage does not mean your knees are not shaking. It means your obedience is stronger than your fear.
Biblical Story — Gideon
In Judges 6, Gideon was hiding when God called him “a mighty man of valour.”
Imagine that. A fearful man being called mighty.
God often speaks to who you are becoming, not merely who you are right now.
Gideon eventually confronted armies, destroyed idols, and delivered Israel because he stopped allowing fear to control him.
4. Fear Delays Destiny
Some people are years behind God’s timing because fear kept them stagnant.
Fear of criticism
Fear of rejection
Fear of mistakes
Fear of people
Fear of starting over
The children of Israel spent 40 years wandering because fear kept them from entering the Promised Land.
Fear prolongs wilderness seasons.
Deep Spiritual Insight
What you continually fear can eventually control your decisions. Job said:
> “The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me.” — Job 3:25
Fear opens doors to torment, doubt, anxiety, and spiritual paralysis.
5. God’s Presence Is the Cure for Fear
Throughout Scripture, whenever God called someone, He also gave assurance:
“I am with you.”
“Fear not.”
“Be courageous.”
The answer to fear is not self-confidence alone. It is God-confidence.
David faced Goliath boldly because he knew God was with him.
When you know Heaven backs you, fear loses its grip.
Practical Action Steps
1. Pray Against Fear Daily
Fear must be confronted spiritually. Declare God’s Word over your life consistently.
2. Stop Feeding Fear
Be careful what you constantly watch, hear, and meditate on. Fear grows where faith is absent.
3. Take Small Steps of Obedience
Do not wait until you “feel ready.” Start moving.
Start the ministry.
Apply for the opportunity.
Speak when God says speak.
Serve faithfully.
4. Surround Yourself with Faith-Filled People
Negative voices strengthen fear. Godly encouragement strengthens courage.
5. Focus on God’s Promise More Than Your Weakness
Moses focused on his speech problem; God focused on deliverance.
Questions for Reflection
1. What fear has been stopping me from obeying God fully?
2. Am I more concerned about people’s opinions than God’s purpose?
3. What assignment have I delayed because of fear?
4. Do I truly believe God is with me?
5. What step of faith must I take immediately?
Powerful Prayer Points
1. Father, every spirit of fear limiting my destiny, break in the name of Jesus.
2. Lord, give me courage to pursue my divine purpose.
3. Every voice of discouragement speaking against my future, be silenced.
4. Father, help me to trust You above my fears.
5. Lord, wherever fear has delayed me, restore lost time and opportunities.
6. I receive boldness, confidence, wisdom, and spiritual strength for my assignment.
7. Every chain of intimidation and insecurity over my life, break now in Jesus’ name.
Call to Action
Beloved, your destiny is too valuable to surrender to fear.
There are people connected to your obedience. There are souls attached to your assignment. There are generations waiting for your courage.
Do not die with your purpose trapped inside you.
The boat may feel safe, but miracles happen on the water. The wilderness may feel familiar, but destiny is in the Promised Land.
Rise up. Pray again. Try again. Preach again. Build again. Believe again.
Fear may knock at your door, but do not give it a seat in your life.
God is calling you forward. Step into your purpose with boldness and faith.
If you have not given your life to Jesus kindly do so by joining a Bible believing Church.
