Good morning, brethren.
1. Morning devotion for today.

MD.i. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. WEDNESDAY MAY 27, 2026.
"THE FINGER OF GOD (1)"

'When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers....' Psalm 8:3 NKJV

LET'S LOOK at the finger of God in Scripture: the finger of God in creation. The Psalmist David said, ‘When I consider…the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him?’ (vv. 3-4 NKJV). The Bible opens by telling us, ‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth’ (Genesis 1:1 NIV). In a day when many challenge the inspiration and infallibility of the Bible, we need to teach our children Who made the universe, Who runs it, and to Whom each of us is ultimately accountable. In 1961 Yuri Gagarin, the first Russian cosmonaut to go into space, boasted, ‘I looked and looked but I didn’t see God.’ Guess what? One day he will see God and stand before Him and be judged (Romans 14:11-12). We all will!  Faith and reason are not necessarily opposed. But when reason won’t take you another step, faith keeps on going because it connects you to God. The stars convinced David of God’s existence. They say if you counted stars at a rate of 125 a minute, it would take 2,000 years just to count the stars in our Milky Way. And that it would take ten billion human beings standing side by side to span the diameter of the average star. Awesome, isn’t it? Paul says: ‘For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse’ (Romans 1: 20 NIV). If you look you will see God at work everywhere—including your own life.

MD.ii. GOD HEARS OUR CRY

"The sacrifice You desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God." - Psalm 51:17

Israel called on the name of the Lord whenever they got into misery because of their sin. They regretted their sins again. It always touches my heart that when they called upon the living God, God showed His great mercy, patience and compassion and forgave them over and over again. And this while the people of Israel were backsliding for the millionth time.

What does this prove? That few people seem to be able to put up with the luxury of prosperity and abundance. Only when a person is in misery, he or she will start calling upon God.

When all is well with you and you do not serve God with all your heart, the evil one will remain silent. But when you are in misery, the evil one becomes goody-goody and says: 'Yes, it is not fair to call on God now that you have problems.'

However, do not listen to the evil one. If you are in trouble, be humble and not ashamed for the Bible teaches us that God will not reject a broken and repentant heart (see Psalm 51:19). When you come, perhaps for the millionth time, with your broken life, difficulties, worries and struggle, God always wants to help you and He will bow down to reach you and take you out of all misery and difficulties.

Do you know what the Bible often says when Israel repented and started to call upon God? He could bear Israel's misery no longer.

This is the same for you and me without a doubt. When we turn to God and call upon Him, He will help us out of all problems.

2. Morning prayer for today.

MP.i. Morning Prayer

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. ⏤ Romans 12:1

Prayer is the life-breath of the soul. Without it, we grow faint and weary. ⏤ F.B. Meyer

O God, You alone make us dwell in safety. We lie down at night under the shadow of Your wings, and we awake in the morning under the blessing of Your love because You have sustained us. Once again, we thank You for Your care and protection, and for the gift of sleep. We renew our consecration to You this morning, asking for Your permission to live another day for You and with You, doing Your will.

Make the way clear for us, and do not let us stray from the paths of Your commandments. In our worldly affairs, grant us wisdom and grace. May it please You to prosper us in our daily work. May Your Holy Spirit preside over our home. Protect us from harm of every kind. Let us not be careless in our duties or neglectful in our tasks today.

Help us to make the most of every moment of this day. This day is Yours, not ours; it is ours to use for You. May we spend it in such a way that every moment will bear good fruit. In our conversations, may we speak only words that build others up—kind words, true words. Keep us from complaining and grumbling. Teach us the lesson of contentment so that we never murmur or complain.

May it please You to keep us from speaking words that would discourage others. May we always speak words that uplift and encourage, making it easier for others to live. Forbid that we should say anything that would make anyone's burden heavier or their path more difficult. May we live every moment for You, serving You faithfully, and at last may You receive us into Your heavenly glory, through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.
