Prayer Ministry-6

Syllabus-16

"In everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." Phil 4:6

What is our state of mind when we pray? We may not receive an answer immediately. Our prayers may take a long time to be answered. Daniel’s prayer was answered 21 days later. Daniel 10:13. Joseph’s dream was delayed 13 years (Genesis 37:2 and 41:46). God’s promise to Abraham was delayed 25 years. Genesis 12:4 and 21:5. David’s kingship was delayed 7 years. The Israelites were delayed 40 years before they entered Canaan. This delay can be from God or from us. We need to be patient in our prayers. King David said, “I waited patiently for the Lord; he was attentive to me and heard my cry for help.” Psalm 40:1.

If we trust in God’s faithfulness, we cannot be impatient. The Lord’s word says, “ _For_ all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28. The Lord knows our good more than we can understand. Therefore, it is our duty to trust in His judgment. Therefore, when we pray, we should present all things to Him with thanksgiving. Gratitude and trust are inherent in thanksgiving. Only if we have true love, faith, and trust in Him will we have thanksgiving in our hearts. We should not pray with a grumbling or complaining attitude.

"He who offers the sacrifice of praise honors me." Psalm 50:23.
