STRIVING FOR MATURITY
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you." Philippians 3:12-15 NKJV.
It is very easy to look at a fellow 'perspiring' believer in Christ Jesus who you sincerely believe in your heart is mature in their relationship with the LORD, and wish you were like them. However, if only you could actually see behind that fog of apparent maturity, you would see a fellow believer with challenging situations just like you and everyone else. In the context of our foundational text, Paul, the apostle, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit expresses his acknowledgement of the prevalent situation in his strive for maturity - he hasn't attained perfection yet, but on an ongoing deliberate journey of becoming like Christ.
You need to stop comparing yourself to others (as those who do that are fools), but rather concentrate on pressing on toward the goal like Paul, the apostle. Put your trust in God, lean on Him for He is ready and able to help you through every challenging situation that comes your way.
PRAYER BULLETS:
LORD Jesus, thank You for Your Spirit that strengthens me in my times of weakness. Help me to continually strive for maturity in my walk and work with You.
