St. Justin

St. Justin was born in Flavia Neopolis in the modern day West Bank, Palestine in the year about 110 A.D. in a pagan family. His father was Priscos. St. Justin was influenced by the fearless conduct of the Christians facing execution for the cause of Christian faith. He was converted to Christianity in Ephesus in about the year 130 A.D. He adopted the dress of a philosopher and travelled to various places for preaching. He started a school in Rome to teach poor people, when Emperor Antonius Pius was reigning. When there was a dispute with another philosopher, the other philosopher informed the authorities about the conversion of Justin to Christianity and his preaching of Christian faith. Then St. Justin along with other six of his companions were arrested and tried by the urban Roman prefect Junius Rusticus during the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. During the trial the Roman Prefect ordered St. Justin and others to worship the Roman Gods. But Justin and his companions boldly told the Perfect \'No one who is right thinking stoops from true worship to false worship\'. When the Roman Prefect told St. Justin that he would be tortured to death mercilessly, if you refuse to sacrifice to the idols of the Roman Gods, he told \'We hope to suffer torment for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ and so be saved\' . All others also told that they would not offer sacrifices to the idols. St. Justin and the others were beheaded in the year 165 A.D. His relics are in the church of St. John the Baptist in Sacrofano.
