* DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 156*
*DATE: 5TH JUNE 2026*
*TOPIC: THE POWER OF HONOR*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: 1 PETER 2:17 (NKJV)*
*"Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king."*
*Devotional message:*

After witnessing the blessings that came upon the household of Obed-Edom because of the presence of the Ark of the Covenant, David resolved to bring the Ark to Jerusalem. Filled with joy and gratitude, he danced before the Lord with all his might as the Ark was carried into the city. His heart was consumed with worship, thanksgiving, and reverence for God.

However, as David returned home to bless his household, a different scene unfolded. Michal, his wife, had already despised him in her heart because of his uninhibited worship before the Lord. Instead of celebrating what God was doing, she focused on criticism and dishonor. The Scriptures record that Michal remained barren for the rest of her life, missing the blessing that could have been hers.

This account reveals an important spiritual principle: dishonor often prevents people from receiving what God desires to give them through others.

The same principle was evident in the ministry of Jesus. Although He possessed unlimited power, the people of His hometown became overly familiar with Him. They saw Him merely as the carpenter's son rather than recognizing Him as the Messiah. Because of their unbelief and dishonor, they failed to experience many of the miracles that others received.

Many believers today face a similar challenge. Familiarity often blinds people to the gifts and grace that God has placed in those around them. Some struggle to receive from their pastors, leaders, mentors, parents, or fellow believers because they focus on outward appearances, age, education, social status, or material possessions. As a result, they fail to benefit from the wisdom, counsel, and spiritual deposits God has entrusted to those individuals.

Honor is not worshiping people; it is recognizing and respecting the grace, calling, and purpose that God has placed upon their lives. When we honor what God has established, we position ourselves to receive from it. Humility opens doors that pride keeps shut.

Likewise, both the young and the old are called to walk in honor. Younger believers should honor those who have gone before them in faith and experience, while older believers should not despise those whom God has raised and anointed simply because of their age. God's calling is not determined by human standards but by His sovereign choice.

Throughout Scripture, God often places great treasures in ordinary vessels. The challenge is whether we can look beyond the vessel and recognize the treasure within. Those who cultivate humility and honor are often able to access blessings, wisdom, impartation, and breakthroughs that others overlook.

Child of God, ask the Lord to help you see people through His eyes. Refuse to allow familiarity, pride, or prejudice to rob you of what God desires to impart through others. Learn to honor God's servants, His people, and His work, and you will position yourself to receive the blessings He has prepared for you.

Honor opens doors to receive from God through the people He has placed in our lives, while dishonor can hinder us from accessing the blessings He intends for us.

*Prayer:*

Heavenly Father, thank You for the people You have placed in my life for my growth and blessing. Deliver me from pride, familiarity, and dishonor. Give me a humble heart that recognizes and honors the grace You have deposited in others. Help me to see people through Your eyes and to receive all that You desire to impart through them. In Jesus' name, Amen.
