Dear Father,

There is something commendable I have observed about the way the Bible is written. It was not just a journal of events that transpired; its accounts were recorded with such structure and intentionality that one can trace those occurrences and see their effects unfolding thousands of years later. A passage says: "The word of the Lord came to him in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah..."

Your intentionality in ensuring how these accounts were recorded reveals that You were interested not only in the events themselves but also in their preservation, all for our benefit. I wonder what knowledge would sustain us today if those events had not been captured, especially the ones that reveal Your nature and dealings with mankind.

I have learned that there is more to journaling than referencing for the future. We often save or preserve the things we consider valuable. Perhaps we have yet to recognize that some of life's greatest assets are not stored in bank accounts but in the words and encounters we choose to keep.

I reviewed some of the journals I have kept and realized that I am now living in some of the promises You made. How wonderful it feels to live a dream You once promised. So I am intentional with every promise You make and every dream that seems far-fetched. I will not just keep journals; I will also give them structure, so that in the future I can trace Your faithfulness and remember the journey from promise to fulfillment.
