On the Philosophy of Hope – "Why Do We Expect Miracles?"
Hope in the Christian perspective is not a "wish"; it is a "certainty built on a promise." We do not hope because we are optimistic about human nature, but because we believe in the efficacy of Christ’s resurrection.
The difference between despair and hope is "looking at the Cross." The Cross was the place where it seemed everything had ended. But the Resurrection proved that God does not allow an ending without a new dawn.
Hope is what enables us to endure the "waiting period." We do not wait because we are weak, but because we realize that God’s timing is the most perfect.
When doors close, remember that God does not need open doors to work. He entered the upper room while the doors were shut. Your hope is not in the circumstances, but in the "Person" who is the Lord of circumstances.
Therefore, we expect miracles. Not because we are naive, but because we have a Lord who rose from the dead.
"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength." (Isaiah 40:31)
