Good morning, brethren.

THE WORD FOR TODAY. SUNDAY JUNE 7, 2026.
"THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAISING GOD (1)"

'...If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’  Luke 19:40 NIV

IT'S SAID that when scientists break down the ‘matter’ that comprises our universe, it actually contains some musical molecules. When the Pharisees tried to silence those who were praising the Lord, perhaps that’s why Jesus said, ‘If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’ The Bible speaks of trees clapping their hands in praise and oceans and the mountains exalting God. All of creation is designed to praise Him. And when you don’t, there’s a connection with God that’s not made and an emptiness within you that nothing else can fill. David said, ‘Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice’ (Psalms 141:2 NKJV). Here the word ‘prayer’ in Hebrew means ‘songs of praise’ and the Bible uses it no less than 72  times in this context. So start singing praise to God! The Ark of the Covenant represented three things: victory, guidance and God’s presence. No wonder Israel felt lost without it. But observe how they brought it back from the camp of their Philistine foes: ‘Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels…’ (1 Chronicles 13:8 KJV). Notice the phrase, ‘with all their might’. Away with pale, pathetic praise! Put your heart and soul into it! Worship brings intimacy with God. When it came to rebuilding Jerusalem, the singers were as vital to the success of the operation as the soldiers and builders. In fact, their role was so important they were paid to do it (Nehemiah 11:23-24 KJV). So start praising God!

MD.ii. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TESTAMENT EVER MADE

"This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you." - Luke 22:20

I am sure Christians would also like to honor God when they write their testament. It is God's will that as a wise and faithful steward of all He has entrusted to you, you arrange beforehand what will happen to your possessions after you pass away. It is important to acknowledge that God is your Lord and that everything you possess belongs to Him. When writing a testament with a surrendered heart, you will say as Jesus said: 'Not My will, but Your will be done. Here am I to do Your will.'

The most beautiful testament ever written is God's covenant. The origin and meaning of TESTAMENT are entirely spiritual. It is a divine institution inspired by God's love. The Bible is God's testament which allows man to be heirs of His Kingdom (see Matthew 25:34).

The Old and the New Testament

God even made two testaments: the Old and the New Testament. The Old Testament has been replaced by the New Testament (see Hebrews 8:13), which is a superior one because it is established on better promises (see Hebrews 8:6).

Even though blood was also shed in the Old Testament, the New Covenant came into force through the death and the shed Blood of Jesus Christ (see Hebrews 9:15-18). Jesus said at the institution of the Holy Supper: 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you' (Luke 22:20).

A heritage

The heirs are everyone who believe (see Romans 8: 16-17 and Psalm 61:5). The heritage is eternal life in Jesus, however the believer already receives many blessings during today's earthly life. Whoever believes has eternal life (see John 3:16 and John 5:24).

2. Morning Prayer for today.

MP.i. Morning Prayer

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. ⏤ Psalm 19:14

Prayer is not overcoming God's reluctance, but laying hold of His willingness. ⏤ Martin Luther

Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, we ask You to take away our sin. O God, the Father of all mercies, who did not spare Your only begotten Son but delivered Him up for us all, for His sake give us all things needful for our comfort, strength, and salvation. May we always be submissive and obedient to Your holy will. May we live for You, giving in consecrated service all that You so richly give to us. Make us truly like You.

We ask You to give us grace for this day’s life. Set a watch before the door of our lips, that we may speak only words that honor You. Keep our hearts in Your holy keeping, for we cannot keep them for You—may we think only reverent, loving, true, pure, and worthy thoughts. Prepare us for Your worship, both in our own home and in Your sanctuary. May we truly be in the Spirit on this Lord’s day.

Bless our home life today. May it be holy and happy. May Your love sweeten ours. May we live together as a family with patience, affection, and mutual thoughtfulness and kindness. Bless us in all our relationships with others.

We ask You to pour out Your Spirit on all who will preach the gospel, all who will teach in Sunday schools, and all missionaries. May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Bless us and keep us. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
