THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU
Text: Luke 17:20-21
> "And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."
Introduction
The Pharisees were waiting for a visible kingdom. They expected a political revolution, military power, and a physical throne. However, Jesus revealed a mystery: the Kingdom of God first comes spiritually before it is manifested physically.
Many people are still looking for God in dramatic signs and outward displays, while neglecting the work He desires to do within them.
1. The Kingdom of God Is Not an Earthly System
Jesus said, "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation."
God's Kingdom is different from the kingdoms of this world. It is not built by human strength, wealth, or political influence. It is a spiritual kingdom governed by the authority of God.
God's Kingdom advances through transformed hearts rather than military force.
John 18:36
> "My kingdom is not of this world."
2. The King Was Already Among Them
The Pharisees were asking when the Kingdom would come, yet the King Himself was standing before them.
They were looking for an event and missed the Person.
Many today seek miracles, signs, and wonders but fail to pursue a relationship with Jesus Christ. When the King is present, the Kingdom is present.
3. The Kingdom Begins Within
Jesus declared:
> "Behold, the kingdom of God is within you."
Before God changes nations, He changes hearts.
Before God transforms communities, He transforms individuals.
The Kingdom is established in the heart when Jesus is enthroned as Lord and Savior.
A heart ruled by Christ becomes a territory of God's Kingdom.
4. Evidence of the Kingdom
The Kingdom is not merely words or religious activities.
Romans 14:17
> "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."
When God's Kingdom is active in a believer, there will be:
Righteousness instead of sin.
Peace instead of confusion.
Joy instead of despair.
Faith instead of fear.
Obedience instead of rebellion.
5. The Kingdom Must Be Manifested
Although the Kingdom begins within, it must be demonstrated outwardly.
A transformed heart should produce a transformed life.
The Kingdom should be visible in our speech, conduct, prayer life, character, and love for others.
Matthew 6:33
> "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Conclusion
The Pharisees looked outward and missed the Kingdom. Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God begins within. The greatest question is not whether you can see the Kingdom, but whether the Kingdom is ruling in your heart.
When Christ reigns in your heart, the Kingdom of God is present in your life.
Prayer
Father, establish Your Kingdom within me. Let every area of my life come under Your authority. Remove every throne that competes with Christ in my heart. Fill me with righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Let Your Kingdom be manifested through my life for Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen. :::
