* DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 164*
*DATE: 13TH JUNE 2026*
*TOPIC: THE POWER OF LISTENING IN PRAYER*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: JEREMIAH 33:3 (KJV)*
*"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."*
*Devotional message:*

One important lesson we learn from David and many other servants of God in Scripture is that they did not merely pray and walk away. They prayed, waited upon God, listened for His direction, and then acted upon what He revealed. As a result, victory, wisdom, and success often followed their obedience.

David frequently inquired of the Lord before making major decisions. Whether going into battle, pursuing enemies, or leading the nation, he sought God's guidance first. He understood that success was not found merely in human effort but in hearing and obeying the voice of God.

This teaches us an important truth about prayer. Prayer was never intended to be a one-sided conversation where we only present our requests and immediately leave God's presence. True prayer is communion with God. It is a relationship in which both speaking and listening are essential.

Many believers have mastered the art of speaking to God but have neglected the discipline of listening to Him. Often, it is not that God is silent or unwilling to answer. Rather, we are sometimes too hurried to remain in His presence long enough to hear what He is saying. Effective communication requires both a sender and a receiver. Just as we desire God to hear our prayers, He also desires us to hear His voice.

God often answers prayers in ways we do not expect. At times, He may provide a specific instruction, a divine strategy, a word of wisdom, or a fresh perspective that becomes the solution to the very thing we have been praying about. What seemed like an unanswered prayer may simply require us to pause and listen carefully to what God is already saying.

Throughout Scripture, God frequently guided His people through personal encounters and divine instructions. Noah received instructions that preserved his family. Joseph received wisdom that saved nations from famine. David received battle strategies that brought victory. In each case, hearing God was just as important as praying to Him.

Therefore, we must correct the misconception that prayer is merely a monologue. Prayer is a dialogue. It is a sacred fellowship where God not only listens to our cries but also speaks into our circumstances. As we learn to wait quietly before Him, our spiritual ears become more sensitive to His voice and His leading.

Child of God, do not rush out of God's presence after presenting your requests. Spend time waiting before Him. Open your heart to His Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit. You may discover that the answer you have been seeking is found in the instructions He desires to give you.

Prayer is not only speaking to God but also listening to Him. Many answers are received when believers learn to wait upon the Lord and hear His voice.

*PRAYER:*

Heavenly Father, thank You for inviting me into fellowship with You. Teach me not only to pray but also to listen. Help me to quiet my heart and become sensitive to Your voice. Give me the patience to wait upon You and the wisdom to obey whatever You reveal. May my prayer life become a place of true communion where I hear Your direction and walk in Your will. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
