John 15:12 (NKJV)
“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
Jesus does not simply suggest that we love one another—He commands it. Yet His command is not burdensome because He gives us the perfect example: “as I have loved you.” Christ's love is sacrificial, patient, forgiving, and unconditional. He loved His disciples despite their weaknesses, and He loves us despite ours.
In a world that often encourages self-interest, Jesus calls His followers to a higher way. We are to reflect His love in our homes, churches, workplaces, and communities. Sometimes that love is shown through kind words, sometimes through acts of service, and sometimes through extending grace when it is difficult.
Today, let us ask the Lord to help us love others not merely with our feelings, but with the same compassion and commitment that He has shown to us.
Gracious Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me with an everlasting love. Forgive me for the times I have failed to show Your love to others. Fill my heart with Your compassion, patience, and grace. Help me to love those around me as You have loved me, serving them with kindness and humility. May my words and actions reflect Your presence and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
