“He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”

John reminds us that faith is more than words—it is a way of life. To abide in Christ means to remain close to Him, drawing our strength, guidance, and purpose from Him each day. If we claim to belong to Jesus, our lives should increasingly reflect His character.
Jesus walked in humility, obedience, compassion, forgiveness, and love. None of us follows Him perfectly, but through the work of the Holy Spirit we are being shaped to become more like Him. Each day presents opportunities to walk as He walked: showing kindness to a neighbour, offering grace to someone who has hurt us, speaking truth with love, and serving others with a willing heart.

Our calling is not merely to admire Jesus, but to follow Him—one faithful step at a time.

    Gracious Lord Jesus,
Thank You for calling us to abide in You. Help us not only to profess faith with our lips, but to demonstrate it through our actions. Teach us to walk as You walked—with humility, compassion, obedience, and love. When we stumble, grant us Your forgiveness and strength to rise again. May our lives reflect Your presence so that others may see Your light shining through us. Guide our steps today and keep us close to You. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.

  • John 15:12 (NKJV)
“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”

Jesus does not simply suggest that we love one another—He commands it. Yet His command is not burdensome because He gives us the perfect example: “as I have loved you.” Christ's love is sacrificial, patient, forgiving, and unconditional. He loved His disciples despite their weaknesses, and He loves us despite ours.

In a world that often encourages self-interest, Jesus calls His followers to a higher way. We are to reflect His love in our homes, churches, workplaces, and communities. Sometimes that love is shown through kind words, sometimes through acts of service, and sometimes through extending grace when it is difficult.

Today, let us ask the Lord to help us love others not merely with our feelings, but with the same compassion and commitment that He has shown to us.

Gracious Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me with an everlasting love. Forgive me for the times I have failed to show Your love to others. Fill my heart with Your compassion, patience, and grace. Help me to love those around me as You have loved me, serving them with kindness and humility. May my words and actions reflect Your presence and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
