The solution to the challenges associated with the flesh, the world, and temptation is heeding the definitive instruction from the Word of God to walk in the Spirit. From some of our earlier studies, we observed that the flesh operates by desire, the world by influence, and temptation by internal inclination. But there’s a higher life in Christ. When you walk in the Spirit, His life that’s inherent in your recreated human spirit is expressed effortlessly. That’s why He didn’t call us to fight the flesh, the world, or the devil but to simply live according to our nature. The flesh has been crucified (Galatians 5:24), you’ve overcome the world (1 John 5:4), and the devil is defeated (Hebrews 2:14). Walking in the Spirit, therefore, is not a struggle; it’s the expression of your true nature. It’s walking in the Word, where the fruits of the spirit—love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance—flow naturally from within you. This is the life of the Christian. Christianity isn’t a religion, and it’s not a struggle with sin, the flesh, or the devil; it’s the transcendent life in Christ.
