Caution in prayer-10

Syllabus-30

"Do not rejoice in this, that the spirits submit to you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

Luke 10:20

The Lord Jesus once sent out seventy disciples to preach. They returned from preaching and rejoiced, saying to him, โ€œLord, even the demons are subject to us in your name.โ€ But the Lord said to them, โ€œDo not rejoice in this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.โ€

Many times we rejoice and gain self-gratification in the work we do in the name of the Lord, maybe people are saved, or the sick are healed, or some miraculous work is performed, and we focus more on the work of the Lord. But there is a trap of the devil in this too. It makes us arrogant in a way and we start loving the work of the Lord more than the Lord. As a result, many times our lives are busy but prayerless. Our communication with the Lord decreases and the source of all work, the Lord Jesus Christ, is lost from our focus. We start thinking that the work is being done by our own merit. Then the gratitude and respect that we should have for Him no longer exists. That is why the Lord Jesus wanted to change the perspective of the disciples - they should rejoice because their names are written in heaven. They did nothing for this right, but they gained this right through the love and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus. They were sinners worthy of hell. If the Lord Jesus had not come into their lives, they would have gone to hell. Therefore, the success that has emerged in their lives is because of the Lord Jesus.

"I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
Luke 15:10.
