"YOUR FAITH IS A CATALYST" ‘…The message…did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith…’ Hebrews 4:2 AMP A CATALYST facilitates change; it makes things happen! For example, Alka-Seltzer without water has no effervescence, flour without yeast produces no bread, seeds without sunshine means no flowers, blue without yellow means no green, an egg without sperm means no baby, a spark without air produces no flame. Faith makes God’s Word work in your life. Without it nothing happens. Talking about the Israelites, Paul said, ‘When the good news of deliverance…came to them…the message…did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith.’ One author says: ‘Without specific catalysts certain results can never be achieved. To make spiritual progress, it’s not enough to read the Bible or listen to sermons. The activating ingredient to understanding is faith. After we hear God’s message, we must act on it…Maybe you’re experiencing bitterness or anger because of a failed relationship and God told you to put those emotions behind you, but you lack the will to do it. Let me encourage you; trust God’s Word and act in faith. His promises will bloom in your life, once you activate your faith.’ Faith is not intellectual assent, or paying lip service to what you read in God’s Word. It’s acting on it, confident that God will do what He promised. There’s a difference between faith and trust. IN THE BEGINNING GOD "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" - Genesis 1:1 Christians, similar to God's chosen people of Israel, have separate laws and customs. They have different thoughts and do not worship wooden or stone gods, but they worship the God of Israel, who is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They believe that God is the Creator of heaven, earth and man. When we read the history of Israel, we see that God set His people apart and that they had nothing to do with the customs of the gentiles around them. The gentiles did not understand the habits of God's people. They were engaged in sorcery, fortune telling, and they consult the spirits of the dead. Christians, like the Jews, are set apart. We are 'strangers' here on earth. We believe the first verses of the Bible: 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth' and 'So God created mankind in His own image' (Genesis 1:27). Jesus, the Word of God became flesh. There is certainly no other way to find God than through Jesus. Many people still believe that we have evolved from the monkey. We, the believers in God, know better. You might ask 'Where are the proofs and facts of this Biblical theory?' There is much more evidence that God speaks the truth than all evidence scientists use to try to demonstrate the 'big bang' theory. This theory can only be accepted if you believe in it.   In Psalm 53:1 we read: 'The fool says in his heart: there is no God.' When you look at the nature and you realize how your body works, you know that there must be a great Architect, and this is God! No scientist dares to say that his theories are unquestionable. This is not the case with the Bible. The creation story is still real and unchanged. We are created in the image of God and are also spiritually connected to Him. Morning Prayer The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. ⏤ Psalm 37:23 God’s guidance is clearest when our trust in Him is steadfast. ⏤ Elisabeth Elliot Graciously come to us this morning, O God, and bless us. We deserve no favor at Your hand—but You are a God of mercy. Out of the depths, we have cried unto You. Lord, hear our cry, and let Your ear be attentive to the voice of our supplication. If You should mark iniquities against us—we could not stand before You, for we have sinned in manifold ways. But there is forgiveness with You—that You may be feared. We wait for Your mercy, for with You there is redemption. You have a purpose for each one of our lives today, something You would have us to do. May You make it plain to each of us as we go out, and go through the hours, what it is You have in Your plan for us. We would do Your will and not our own all the day. Show us what You will have us to do. Teach us to do Your commandments. Let us not follow the foolish counsels and devices of our own hearts. Let us not lean unto our own understanding. Incline our hearts to follow You, and to walk in the way of Your commandments. So may we please You and glorify Your name. We desire to be blessings in the world, and we ask You for grace to show to all who see us, Your beauty in our own lives. Fill us with Your Spirit and then Your life shall shine in us. May the joy of Jesus be in our hearts. Help us to be comforters to those who are in sorrow. May we be enabled to help others with the burdens that are too heavy for them. Teach us how to sympathize with those who are suffering. Help us to be winners of souls. Bless our home, and keep us while absent one from the other, bringing us all together in the evening.
