The power of prayer -7

Syllabus-37

"Then Samson called to the Lord and said... Oh, God, please strengthen me just this once, so that I can be completely avenged on the Philistines for my two eyes." Judges 16:28

When we discuss Samson's biography, we see that he was very weak in moral life. But he had one great quality that he was a man of great zeal for God. He would die for Him. He was a judge of Israel. He had to be captured by the Philistines because of the treachery of his wife Delilah. When the Philistines found him, they gouged out his eyes and blinded him and made him grind with a millstone (Judges 16:21). But he was not disturbed by any circumstances from the way of God. He was looking for an opportunity to destroy God's enemies. One day, when the lords of the Philistines were having fun by offering a great sacrifice to the god Dagon, they said, "Call Samson, that he may make sport of us." So Samson came and began to make sport of them. He was made to stand between the two pillars of the house where they were gathered. Then Samson had a plan. He said, โ€œLet me lean on the pillar.โ€ When they let him lean on it, Samson prayed, โ€œPlease strengthen me once more, so that I can avenge myself on the Philistines for the sight of my eyes.โ€ Then he leaned on the two pillars so that the pillars broke and the roof above it collapsed on all the people. There were about three thousand people in the house. Samson knew that if the house collapsed, he would die too. Still, he did not want to save himself. He destroyed Godโ€™s enemies with his life. Judges 16:30

"Through God we will do valiantly; He will crush our enemies forty thousand." Psalm 60:12.
