Aida Najaflou, an Iranian mother of two who converted to Christianity, is serving a 17 year prison sentence because of her involvement with a house church and Christian ministry activities. She is being held in Tehran’s Evin Prison, where numerous believers and political prisoners have reportedly faced harsh treatment. Her condition recently worsened after she reportedly fell from an upper bunk, leaving her with a fractured T12 vertebra. Christian advocacy groups say she had repeatedly warned prison officials that her medical condition required a lower bed, but her requests were ignored. Despite the seriousness of her injury, reports indicate she was returned to prison rather than receiving the specialized medical care she needed. Jesus never promised His followers an easy path. He said, “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you” (John 15:20), and 2 Timothy 3:12 declares that everyone who desires to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will face persecution. Around the world, countless believers continue to pay a heavy price for remaining faithful to Christ. Hebrews 13:3 urges the church to remember those who are imprisoned as though we were suffering alongside them.
