*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:14 (NKJV)*
“ *For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”*
*Additional Scripture Reading: Matthew 4:1; Acts 8:26–40; Proverbs 3:5–6; John 16:13; Isaiah 30:21*
For the past two Sundays, we have explored how the Holy Spirit empowers believers with boldness to testify of Jesus Christ and power to witness through signs and wonders. Today, we look at another vital ministry of the Holy Spirit—His guidance and direction.
One of the greatest privileges of the believer is to be led by the Holy Spirit. However, His guidance is experienced only by those who willingly yield to His leading.
The first clear example is found in the life of Jesus Christ. Immediately after His baptism, it was the Holy Spirit who led Him into the wilderness, where He fasted for forty days and forty nights. Although the wilderness was a place of testing, it was also a place of preparation for His public ministry. This teaches us that the Holy Spirit does not always lead us to places of comfort, but He always leads us according to the perfect will of God.
We also see this in the life of Philip. The Holy Spirit directed him to approach the Ethiopian eunuch, who was reading the book of Isaiah but could not understand it. As Philip obeyed the Spirit's leading, he preached Jesus to him, and the eunuch believed and was baptized. One act of obedience became the doorway for the Gospel to reach another nation.
Likewise, Elijah was directed by God from one place to another, and wherever the Lord sent him, divine provision awaited him. His supply was connected to his obedience.
The same principle applies to us today. The Holy Spirit desires to order our steps and direct every area of our lives. He guides us in our Christian walk, the decisions we make, the work we undertake, the places we should go, the relationships we should cultivate, and even those we should avoid.
Jesus promised that when the Holy Spirit came, He would guide us into all truth. Therefore, we must not rely on our own understanding but acknowledge God in every aspect of our lives, trusting Him to direct our paths.
Child of God, the safest place to be is in the center of God's will. As you cultivate fellowship with the Holy Spirit and yield to His voice through prayer and the Word, He will faithfully guide your steps and lead you into God's purpose for your life.
We shall continue next Sunday by God's grace.
