"Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard you."
**2 Kings 19:20**
When Hezekiah was the king of Judah, the mighty Sennacherib, king of Assyria, gathered a massive army and sent his commander, Rabshakeh, so that Israel would surrender. Rabshakeh went and severely mocked their God and terrified them so that they would surrender to Sennacherib. King Hezekiah then made an earnest prayer to God, saying, "O Lord, God of Israel... give ear, O Lord, and hear; open your eyes, O Lord, and see; listen to the words Sennacherib has sent to ridicule the living God."
"Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God.โ **2 Kings 19:14-19.**
Thereafter, he sent messengers to the prophet Isaiah to make all these matters known. Then the prophet Isaiah sent word back to Hezekiah, saying, "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria. Therefore this is what the Lord says concerning the king of Assyria: 'He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow here. He will not come before it with shield or build a siege ramp against it. By the way that he came he will return; he will not enter this city, declares the Lord. I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant.'" **2 Kings 20:34.** *(Note: Text quotes 2 Kings 20:34, context corresponds to 2 Kings 19:32-34)*
How did God answer Hezekiah's prayer? That very night, He sent an angel who entered the Assyrian camp and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand soldiers. When the people got up the next morningโthere were all the dead bodies!
**2 Kings 19:35.**
"Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty."
**2 Chronicles 14:11**
