*DATE: 30TH JUNE 2026*
*TOPIC: CHOSEN TO BE FRUITFUL_9*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: JOSHUA 1:8 (NKJV)*
" *This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night... For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."* —
*Devotional message:*
We continue with our series, Chosen to Be Fruitful. Yesterday, we began looking at the area of spiritual disciplines, starting with the discipline of prayer and how believers can cultivate a fruitful prayer life. Today, we turn our attention to another essential spiritual discipline—the study of God's Word.
Before studying the Scriptures, every believer must first ask an important question: Why am I studying the Bible? The motive behind our study determines whether it will produce lasting fruit. If our desire is merely to gain knowledge, win arguments, or impress others by quoting many Scriptures, then we have missed God's purpose for His Word.
The Word of God is like a mirror. As we study it, meditate upon it, and allow it to renew our minds, it reveals Christ to us and transforms us into His likeness. True Bible study is not measured by how much Scripture we can quote, but by how much our lives resemble Jesus. The goal is not simply to become hearers of the Word but doers who live according to its truth.
Many believers remain unchanged because they pursue information without allowing the Word to transform their hearts. However, when we approach Scripture with humility and a teachable spirit, the Holy Spirit uses it to shape our character, renew our thinking, and align our lives with God's will.
The Word of God is also the source of divine wisdom. Within its pages are principles that provide solutions for families, marriages, churches, businesses, communities, governments, and nations. Principles such as diligence, integrity, faithfulness, stewardship, humility, and loyalty are timeless truths that bring lasting success when faithfully applied. Many of the challenges facing society today are not due to a lack of information but a failure to live according to God's wisdom.
God instructed Joshua not only to read His Word but to meditate upon it day and night. Meditation allows God's truth to take root in our hearts until it shapes our thoughts, words, and actions. As we continually meditate on Scripture and faithfully obey it, God promises prosperity and success according to His purpose.
Child of God, make the study of God's Word a daily priority. Read it with the desire to know Christ, meditate upon it consistently, and faithfully practice what you learn. As you do, the Word will transform your life, fill you with divine wisdom, and make you fruitful in every area of life.
Fruitful study of God's Word begins with the right motive—to know Christ, be transformed into His image, and faithfully live according to His truth.
*Prayer:*
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Word. Give me a heart that hungers for Your truth and a desire to know You more each day. Help me not to seek knowledge for personal recognition but to allow Your Word to transform my life. Teach me to meditate upon Your Word daily and to faithfully obey all that You reveal. Fill me with Your wisdom so that my life may bear fruit and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
*Daily Bible Reading:*
Josh 1:8–9,Ps 1:1–3,Jas 1:22–25,2 Tim 3:14–17,Hebrews 4:12
