ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST* (COCIN DEVOTIONAL) *DATE:* THURSDAY, 2ND JULY, 2026. *SUB-THEME:* THE CONSEQUENCES OF REJECTING GOD'S GRACE. *TOPIC:* PHYSICAL DEATH. *TEXT:* ACTS 5:1-10. 1 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2 With his wife’s full knowledge, he kept back some of the proceeds for himself, but brought a portion and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3 Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and withhold some of the proceeds from the land? 4 Did it not belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? How could you conceive such a deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God!” 5 On hearing these words, Ananias fell down and died. And great fear came over all who heard what had happened. 6 Then the young men stepped forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. 7 About three hours later his wife also came in, unaware of what had happened. 8 “Tell me,” said Peter, “is this the price you and your husband got for the land?” “Yes,” she answered, “that is the price.” 9 “How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord?” Peter replied. “Look, the feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.” 10 At that instant she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. *TOPIC:* PHYSICAL DEATH. *THE MESSAGE:* Death is the irreversible cessation of all vital functions including, heartbeat, breathing, and brain activity, resulting in the end of life. Today's text recounts the story of Ananias and Sapphira, a couple who took God's grace for granted in their lives. They lied to the Holy Spirit about the amount of money they gave to the Church, resulting in their immediate death. Unfortunately, some believers have become hypocrites, full of dishonesty in their offices, businesses, and even in the church. Many have been afflicted and suffered losses, which might be the consequence of dishonesty. How honest are you in your dealings? Do not trample on the grace of God. You could also suffer the fate of Ananias and Sapphira if you do not desist from your acts of dishonesty. Scrutinize yourself and repent! *REFLECTION:* Do not abuse the grace of God. *PRAYER:* Lord, help me to honour You in all my dealings. Fill our hearts with the spirit of adoption. We thank You for the privileges we enjoy as Your children. Help us to fully understand and appreciate them. Reveal Your love to us more and more. Though we cannot see You, and sometimes we struggle to believe in Your love, make this precious truth known to us, and may Your love be poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. We are grateful for all the blessings You have given us—for the good things of Your providence and the even greater things of Your grace. We thank You for our home and its warm affection. We thank You for our friends and all the blessings of friendship. We thank You for our children and their sweetness and beauty. We thank You for schools, books, and teachers. We thank You for Your church, with its sacraments, fellowship, and the many ways it helps us. As another day comes to an end, we ask for Your blessing. Accept all the work we’ve done today and bless it. Forgive us our sins, and strengthen us so that we may not sin against You so easily. Help us live in this world as pilgrims, just passing through on our way to our heavenly home. Yet, while we are here, help us live well, using the world but not abusing it, leaving a blessing behind us. Lead us onward, and when life’s last day comes, bring us to the end in peace and into the eternal life of Heaven, through Jesus Christ our Redeemer.
