DAY 5 – MORNING REFLECTION
The Hidden Cost of Half-Truths
Good Morning!
A woman once shared something with me that I have never forgotten.
She said, "My husband rarely tells outright lies. Instead, he tells me enough to satisfy my question—but not enough to reveal the whole truth."
That statement made me pause.
Sometimes we convince ourselves that if we have not told a direct lie, we have been honest. Yet withholding important information can leave the other person feeling deceived when the full story comes to light.
Imagine buying land together. One spouse discovers that there are unresolved legal issues but decides not to mention them because, "I don't want to worry my partner." Months later, when the truth emerges, the greatest pain is not the legal challenge—it is the feeling of being left out of an important decision.
Love invites participation. Trust welcomes transparency.
Healthy marriages are built on open hearts, not selective honesty.
God's Word
"Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out." — Proverbs 10:9
Today's Challenge
Ask yourself, "Is there any important matter I have only partially shared?" If so, pray for courage and choose openness today.
Let's Talk
Do you think withholding part of the truth can damage trust? Why or why not?
Prayer
Father, help me to walk in complete integrity. Remove fear from my heart and teach me that honesty strengthens love. May my home be marked by openness, trust, and peace. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Lewis Addai-Baah Marriage Nugget
"Half-truths may protect a moment, but whole truth protects a relationship."
Remember:
In marriage, it is not about winning the argument; it is about winning each other's hearts.
May your words reflect God's truth and your home reflect God's peace.
