* DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 189*
*DATE: 8TH JULY 2026*
*TOPIC: FRUIT THAT LASTS_3*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: LUKE 4:1 (NKJV)*
*"Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness."*
*Devotional message:*
Over the past two days, we have learned that fruit which lasts is sustained by continually abiding in God and by living a life of holiness. Today, we discover another essential principle for producing lasting fruit: embracing God's process.
Before Jesus began His public ministry, the Holy Spirit led Him into the wilderness. It was there that He was tested, strengthened, and prepared for the assignment the Father had entrusted to Him. When He emerged from the wilderness, He ministered in the power of the Holy Spirit, and His life left an eternal impact that continues to transform lives today.
This reveals an important truth: God prepares before He promotes. The wilderness is not a place of abandonment but a place of preparation. It is where God develops our character, deepens our dependence upon Him, strengthens our faith, and teaches us obedience. Those who refuse God's process often struggle to sustain the blessings, influence, and responsibilities He desires to entrust to them.
The children of Israel also experienced this principle. Although God could have taken them to the Promised Land by a shorter route, He chose the longer way through the wilderness. During that journey He humbled them, tested their hearts, and taught them to depend upon Him. The process was necessary because God was preparing a people who could possess and preserve their inheritance.
Throughout Scripture, the men and women whom God used greatly all passed through seasons of preparation. Joseph endured years of slavery and imprisonment before becoming a ruler in Egypt. David spent years in the wilderness before ascending the throne. Moses was trained in the desert before leading Israel. In each case, the process produced the character and spiritual maturity necessary to sustain God's purpose.
Child of God, do not despise your season of preparation. The wilderness is not designed to destroy you but to develop you. Every trial, delay, and test that God permits is working together to shape you into the person He has called you to become. If you remain faithful and submit to His dealings, your fruit will not only appear—it will endure for generations.
Lasting fruit is produced by those who willingly embrace God's process of preparation. The wilderness develops the character, faith, and maturity necessary to sustain God's purpose.
*Prayer:*
Heavenly Father, thank You for every season of preparation You allow in my life. Help me not to despise the wilderness but to embrace it with faith and obedience. Develop my character, strengthen my trust in You, and prepare me for the purpose You have ordained for my life. May I bear fruit that remains and brings glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
