Good morning, brethren.

THE WORD FOR TODAY. WEDNESDAY JULY 8, 2026.
"THE LAW OF LOVE (1)"
'A new command I give you: Love one another.' John 13:34 NIV
A NEWSPAPER told the story of a boy with cancer who was going through chemotherapy and losing his hair. To show their love and support, his classmates all shaved their heads so he wouldnāt be embarrassed about returning to school. The newspaper carried a picture of them all with their bald heads, accompanied by the caption, āEverything we do, we do together.ā Thatās the ālaw of loveā Jesus was talking about when He said, āA new command I give you: Love one another.ā This must have sounded radical to the people Jesus was addressing, for they lived by two Old Testament laws: 1) the law of revenge. Before Moses came along, the law of the land was the law of the jungle. It said in essence, āIf you hurt me Iāll hurt you and then hurt you even more!ā Enemies actively sought ways to settle old scores because revenge wasnāt just acceptable, it was encouraged. 2) the law of retribution. In Mosesā time, revenge was replaced with retribution, which allowed āan eye for an eyeā, but no more (Leviticus 24:20). You could do to your enemies only what they had done to you. To us this sounds harsh, but back then it was major progress. Then Jesus came along and introduced a third law: the law of love. It meant you didnāt have to get even; you could choose to forgive. Indeed, if you didnāt, your prayers wouldnāt be answered. This new commandment demonstrates the unconditional love God shows to usāthen calls us to live the same way. So the law of love should govern your life every day.

MD.ii. DO YOU GUARD YOUR FRONT DOOR?
"They said to me: those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire." - Nehemiah 1:3
In Nehemiah's time there was a lot of misery among the people who lived in Jerusalem. Since Israel did not serve God, many were captured by the enemy. Those who still lived in Jerusalem, were in a city whose walls were broken down and the gates burned. This meant that the enemy was able to go in and out of the city whenever he pleased. God saw this and felt compassion. Nehemiah had the desire to restore the walls and the gates of Jerusalem.
Do you also feel the burden of God's Spirit today? A burden for our country? Do you also see that the nations are being demolished and the gates are open to idols and other junk to get in. This is wrongly influencing our young generation.
Take your position
In Nehemiah's time you see God's people getting active. This is what we also need today. We need builders of the wall. People who are not waiting for a light from heaven, but who just start to repair what has been broken down in our country. How do you do that? By taking your position and being a good example. It starts with us, the Christians. When the walls were restored in Nehemiah's time, gatekeepers were appointed to know who and what entered and left the city.
We lose all strength when we act the way the world acts. Without the power of the Holy Spirit we are losers. Parents, you are the gatekeepers over your house. Guard your front door! You must know who your children interact with and who they bring home. You are responsible for what your children are doing and watching.
Set a good example for your children by praying and reading the Bible and taking them to church! These are divine principles. Have a divine atmosphere in your house.

2. Morning Prayer for today.
MP.i. Morning Prayer
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. ⤠John 8:12
To pray well is the better half of study. ⤠Martin Luther
Our heavenly Father, as the light of this new day brightens the world, let the light of Your love fill our hearts and surround us. We canāt live without You! Show us Your grace and mercy today. We know weāre not worthyānot even worthy to gather the crumbs from under Your tableābut You invite us to come close, not just to take crumbs, but to sit at Your table as honored guests, sharing in all the blessings of Your grace! So, we come to You now, asking to be filled with good things from Your hand. Let us drink deeply from the rivers of Your joy.
We want to go through today with You watching over us and staying close by our side. Show us the way, because we canāt find it on our own and would never make it home without Your guidance. Fill our minds with good thoughts, because we can only think beautiful thoughts when they come from You, like stars lighting up our hearts! Every good thing in our lives comes from You. Just like every stream is born in the clouds, every good thing in life is born in Heaven, coming straight from Your heart! Send good and beautiful thoughts and feelings into our hearts, so that we can spread Your blessings to everyone we meet today.
Father, prepare us now to make other lives better today. Let the fire of love burn in our hearts, and may others be inspired to love and find joy through us. Help us comfort those who are hurting. May we carry each otherās burdens. Let us always show the greatness of Your mercy, the tenderness of Your love, and the abundance of Your grace.
We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
