So I had my first confession today and it was very spiritual and relieving. The grace of God is infinite and glorious. I really want people to understand that repentance only comes from admitting your sins and owning up to them. Christ establishted the sacrament of confession and the ability for the priests through Jesus Christ, to forgive sins on earth.
John 20:22-23 ESV
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”
Obviously there are many more references to the priests having authority to bind things on earth and in heaven (Mathew 16:19)
