*THE TRUE BREAD OF HEAVEN*
*TEACHING SERIES*
*THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (Part 6)*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:14–16 (NKJV)*
*“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God... The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”*
*Additional Scripture Reading: Matthew 3:13–17; Matthew 4:1; John 1:12–13; Galatians 4:4–7; 1 John 3:1*
We continue with our series on the Ministry of the Holy Spirit.
When Jesus was baptized, the heavens were opened, the Holy Spirit descended upon Him like a dove, and the Father declared, *“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).* This divine testimony publicly affirmed the identity of Jesus Christ as the beloved Son of God.
Immediately afterward, the Scriptures tell us that Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness (Matthew 4:1). This confirms what the Apostle Paul later taught: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” *Furthermore, “the Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God”* (Romans 8:14–16).
One of the precious ministries of the Holy Spirit is to *affirm our identity as children of God.* Through faith in Jesus Christ, we are adopted into God's family, and the Holy Spirit continually bears witness within us that we belong to the Father. He removes the spirit of fear and rejection and fills our hearts with the assurance that we are loved, accepted, and called by God.
This identity is not merely a title but a lifestyle. As sons and daughters of God, we are called to walk in obedience, holiness, and submission to His will. The Holy Spirit enables us to reflect the character of our heavenly Father and to live lives that bring Him glory.
Child of God, never allow the enemy or the circumstances of life to define your identity. Let the Holy Spirit continually remind you that you are God's beloved child, redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ and called to fulfill His divine purpose.
We shall continue next Sunday by God's grace.
