HOPE AND DIVINE INSIGHT
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.." 1 Peter 1:8 NIV.
For the world, seeing is believing, but for the believer in Christ Jesus, it's the other way round - believing is seeing. The act of believing leads to a spiritual vision and revelation of Christ which is not predicated on physical sight, but rather on faith in Him.
The kernel of the Gospel message of the LORD Jesus revolves around the biblical truth that He died for the sin of the whole world, and rose again from the dead after three days. Such does not sit well with the secular intellectual mind; but the factual truth remains that you don't believe God with your head, but with your heart.
The world may never understand the reason, as Christians, we believe in the God we cannot see. Our anchor text puts it in the proper perspective, '.. Whom having not seen, you love....' (KJV). Thomas, one of the disciples of the LORD Jesus, who was absent during His visit (bodily) to the apostles after His resurrection doubted and insisted on seeing His nail scared hands.
On the LORD's second visit eight days after, He said to him among other things, 'Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.' (John 20:29 NLT).
The psalmist, by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, in expressing his belief in our subject matter says 'I would have lost heart, unless I believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.' (Psalm 27:13 NKJV).
We see God with the eyes of our faith, and no human wisdom or understanding can take that faith away.
Always endeavour to receive God's Word and believe it with all your heart.
PRAYER BULLETS:
LORD Jesus, thank You for Your Word. May Your Word be enough sign and proof to me all my days.
FURTHER READING:
John 20:24-29; Ephesians 1:17:-18; 2 Corinthians 5:7.
