Shine Your Light (Matthew 5:14–16)
The world doesn't need more darkness.
It needs light.
Jesus looked at His followers and made an incredible statement:
“You are the light of the world.”
He didn't say, "You might become the light."
He said, "You are the light."
As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect His love, truth, and hope wherever we go.
Think about a single candle in a dark room.
It doesn't remove every shadow instantly.
But it changes the atmosphere.
In the same way, your life can bring hope to someone who feels hopeless.
Your kindness can brighten someone's difficult day.
Your integrity can inspire trust.
Your words can encourage a discouraged heart.
Your faith can point someone toward Jesus.
Jesus also said that no one lights a lamp and then hides it.
In the same way, don't hide the faith God has placed in your heart.
Let people see Christ through the way you live.
Be honest when others choose shortcuts.
Be compassionate when others ignore those in need.
Be forgiving when the world encourages revenge.
Be joyful even in difficult seasons because your hope is found in Christ.
Your light is not meant to draw attention to you.
Its purpose is to point people to God.
Every good deed done in love...
Every encouraging word...
Every act of generosity...
Every moment of faithfulness...
Can become a testimony that leads others to glorify your Heavenly Father.
Today, ask yourself:
Am I shining the light of Christ in my home, school, workplace, church, and online?
Don't hide your light.
Let it shine brightly.
Someone may find hope because they saw Jesus reflected in you.
How can you shine the light of Christ for someone today?
