Daily Devotion: John 16:33

“I have told you this so that you will have peace by being united to me. The world will make you suffer. But be brave! I have defeated the world!”

God wants us to live peaceful, fulfilled and contented lives in His Name. If you accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you will learn, as you grow in faith, that this is exactly what you are experiencing. With Jesus by your side, you need never worry nor care about anything. Having Him as you Lord should be enough.

However, God understands our human nature. It is in our nature to worry about anything and everything; that is why He continuously comforts us through the writings of His followers. This is why studying the Bible is so important. You don’t want to miss a message from God, do you?

The Word instructs us to ‘rest in the Lord’ and be patient – Psalms 37:7: “Be patient and wait for the Lord to act; don’t be worried about those who prosper or those who succeed in their evil plans.”

Make time to spend a while in meditation of God’s Word – 2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living, so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed.”

If you are troubled, cast your cares upon the Lord in prayer – Matthew 11:28-29: “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest.”

Meditate on God’s power – Job 37:14: “Pause a moment, Job, and listen; consider the wonderful things God does.”

Be humble before Him – Micah 6:8: “…the LORD has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: to do what is just, to show constant love, and to live in humble fellowship with God.”

Did you know that the peace of the Lord comes to you as a free gift? It is part and parcel of salvation; you do not JUST get forgiveness of sins, following that is an everlasting peace, offered by Him who gave His life so we could live. Would you accept it now?
