Greyfriars Bobby, Edinburgh, Scotland.
Greyfriars Bobby was a Skye Terrier (or possibly Dandie Dinmont) who became famous for his remarkable loyalty to his owner, John Gray, a night watchman for Edinburgh City Police. After Gray died in 1858 and was buried in Greyfriars Kirkyard, Bobby is said to have spent about 14 years keeping watch by his master's grave until his own death in 1872. His story captured the public imagination and became a symbol of faithfulness and devotion, although some details are debated by historians.
This much-loved bronze statue of Greyfriars Bobby, sculpted by William Brodie, stands beside Greyfriars Kirkyard on George IV Bridge and is one of Edinburgh's best-known landmarks.
At least two movies have been made about Greyfriars Bobby; one of them by Disney
